8:00PM

"We finally caught him." Someone said from behind Doyoung making him gasp in shock as he almost fell forward.

"Jesus Mark! What'd I tell you about sneaking up on me??!" Doyoung yelled as he yanked an earphone out of his ear glaring at the younger blond haired male.

"Sorry. Taeyong wanted me to let you know that we finally got the person who stole the money." Mark said as he looked up at Doyoung.

"Okay okay whatever! Good job go away!" Doyoung said as he shooed the younger away with his hand.

Doyoung hadn't received a letter that morning or the night before and it was irritating him. He wanted badly to find out who was writing him those letters, and now he couldn't even get one back.

Doyoung sighed impatiently as he walked back to his apartment that night, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his jeans like they used to be whenever he was grumpy. The moon shone down on him casting a shadow of his tall lean body across the sidewalk making him smile slightly as he looked down at it.

Doyoung really did love the moon.

Just as Doyoung entered his apartment he was startled by the loud sound of sirens echoeing through the streets behind him as he turned his head to look. Doyoung's heart began racing when he saw an ambulance and a few police cars pull up in front of his apartment.

Why were they here?

Doyoung cautiously entered his apartment as his eyes landed straight on Lisa who was behind her desk shaking with fear.

"Lisa! Oh my goodness what's wrong??" Doyoung asked in a panicked voice as his arms went around the blonde haired female.

"I-It ha-happened so fast..." Lisa stuttered as her body shook in Doyoung's arms.

"Hey hey it's ok..." Doyoung said as he pulled Lisa into his chest.

"Where are the attackers?" A police officer blurted out from behind Doyoung as he turned around.

"I-I don't know, I just got here..." Doyoung said as he looked at the officer with wide eyes.

"Th-They are upstairs..." Lisa said as tears began to run down her face.

"Was anyone harmed?" The officer asked as he looked around.

"Y-Yes..." Lisa mumbled. "They shot a few people down here..." Lisa said as her finger pointed to something across the room.

Doyoung's eyes grew wide as he broke into a cold sweat and saw three bloody corpses on the ground behind him.

"We have another victim!" Someone yelled out from the other side of the room as Doyoung and the officer turned their heads.

Doyoung walked over to the elevators where there were a bunch of officers and paramedics gathered together, surrounding something.

Doyoung stood on his tippy toes as his head peaked over a few shoulders and felt his heart drop into the pit of his stomach when he saw everyone was looking at.

It was Taeil.

The paramedics lifted his small bloody body onto a gurney as Doyoung's eyes began to water. Taeils cheeks were red and stained with marks from his tears, making Doyoung's heart tremble.

Who would do such a thing to such a cute innocent person?

Memories of him and Taeil raced through Doyoung's head as he stared down at the injured boy through heavy lids. Taeil was such a sweet boy, he had the cutest smile and he was one of the nicest people that Doyoung had ever met. For years Doyoung thought that Jaehyun was as cute as it got, but he was wrong...

It was Taeil.

"Do you know him?" One paramedic asked, seeing the tears in Doyoung's eyes.

"Y-yes.." Doyoung replied quietly as he wiped his eyes with the back of his sleeve.

"Moon Taeil, right?" The paramedic asked as Doyoung's mouth froze.

Moon Taeil?
Like the moon in the sky?

"Hello? Are you okay?" The paramedic asked as a few others pushed the gurney into an ambulance outside. Doyoung completely ignoring the woman ran outside to follow the paramedics and Taeil.

"Hey! Where are you going?" The woman yelled as Doyoung ran past her.

The sound of sirens and chatter from nearby witnesses all blended together melting into Doyoung's ears as he screamed trying to push past the officers and paramedics that held him back. He didn't want Taeil to die, he wanted to look him in the eyes and tell him he was sorry for not being there for him, for not being able to protect him. Doyoung had been in a gang for years so he had experience with fighting, he could have saved Taeil.

"Please! I have to see him!!" Doyoung shouted as the officers restrained him by pulling him away from the ambulance. "Sir please calm down..." A female nurse said as she placed her arm on Doyoung's shoulder. But Doyoung was mad, and there was no talking him out of it when his blood was boiling. In one quick movement, Doyoung pulled his arm free by one of the cops that had been grabbing onto it, and slammed it into the ladies jaw making her cry in pain. The officers let go of Doyoung for a second as they checked to see if she was okay, but then chased after Doyoung as he ran towards the ambulance.

The ambulance slowly drove away as Doyoung was thrown into the ground with the heavy weight of a cop on top of him. "Get off me!!" Doyoung shouted as he thrashed his arms around at the officer. "Calm down!" The cop yelled as he blocked Doyoung's hits.

After about half an hour when the police announced that the building was safe and had been cleared of any threats, the residents slowly went back inside, whispering and chatting amongst themselves while looking at Doyoung. Doyoung didn't care that everyone's eyes were on him and just glared at anyone who stared at him for too long as he stood inside with Lisa.

Doyoung walked behind the counter as he joined Lisa and a few cops that had been reviewing the camera footage of the building on a monitor. His eyes watched the screen as the cops rewound some of the footage, pausing occasionally to try and see if they could get any clear looks at any of the masked men that had attacked earlier.

One of the cops rewound the video a bit too early and was about to fast forward when Doyoung yelled, telling him to stop.

"Go back!" Doyoung said as he brought his head closer to the monitor and squinted his eyes slightly.

There he was...

Taeil in front of the elevator writing a note to Doyoung before going to place it behind a chair when he was shot. Doyoung's eyes shut closed as the sound of gunshots rang through his ears making him flinch. Taeil dropped the note he had been holding as he fell to the ground.

Doyoung rushed over to the other side of the room where the note was and scanned his eyes all over the carpet floor as he searched for it. His eyes roamed across the ground as he nervously looked around for the note, running his hands through his hair before his eyes finally landed on a small piece of paper on a chair.

Doyoung rushed over to the note as he folded it open and read the words written in tiny letters across the top of the page.

"I like you Kim Doyoung.
-Taeil ❤️"

Doyoung's heart thumped against his battered rib cage as his mind began to race and dizziness took over his body.

It was Taeil... Taeil was the one who had been writing him all those notes...

Moon Taeil...
