Kate sat on her bed staring at an open book but never actually reading a single word. Her mind was too busy focusing on her time with Cameron at the fountain. She ran her nimble fingers over her lips, still feeling the presence of Cameron's lips on hers. The scene played on repeat in her mind like a movie she never wanted to stop watching. Kate knew that what they had would never be anything more than the moment they shared at the fountain, concealed by a thick veil of trees, but she was glad to at least have that. As Kate continued to think her eyes grew heavy and she felt the beginnings of sleep start to take hold of her. She finally gave into her eyelids persistent demands and placed her book on the night stand sitting next to her and flicked off the lamp. She sunk into her large mattress and drifted off to sleep, with the movie of her night with Cameron still playing in her head.

Kate was pulled awake by a hand gently shaking her sleeping body. Kate groaned at the maids small hand and rolled over to avoid it, hoping to gain more sleep in doing so. Maybe if she played dead the maid would leave and Kate wouldn't have to worry about being bothered again.

"Princess it's time to wake up. You have a long day ahead of you." A soft pleading voice came from Kate's bed side.

"I don't care I'm sleeping in today" Kate growled angry in her tired state. She was not a morning person, none of the girls were. In fact, that was the maids least favorite part of the morning, they hated having to be the ones to wake the princesses, because they were rather disagreeable in the morning.

"I don't believe the king would like that very much" the woman softly persisted for fear of the king's wrath, but just as scared that Kate would also have her head.

"Tell the king he can shove it. He can force me out of my home but her can't make me get up early for it" Kate snapped throwing a pillow over her head aggressively to block out any more noise. The maid backed away, knowing she wouldn't be getting her out of bed anytime soon, and knowing better than to test the princess.

Kate listened to the sound of the maids heals clicking as she left her bedroom in peace. She sighed happily and allowed herself to drift back to sleep, only to be woken once again. However, this time it wasn't a maids delicate hand that woke Kate from her peaceful slumber, instead it was a deep voice that sternly echoed through her room. She wasn't being addressed by any title either, it was her full name which Kate knew what that meant, and she knew it well. She rolled over to face the door annoyed prying her heavy eyelids open to glare at her father viciously.

"Oh wow what an honor that the king himself has come to wake me!" Kate said sarcastically emphasizing her voice for effect. Her father's face was as cold and as unmoving as a stone sculpture, and his mouth was pinched in a thin line as he glared at his daughter.

"Kathrina I know you're mad at me but I am not going to stand for this level of blatant disrespect" his voice was hard and steady, which Kate had grown all too familiar with.

"Then take a seat" Kate snapped without missing a beat, and sitting up in her bed, her voice dripping with so much sarcasm and bitter annoyance you could almost see it.

Her father's face shifted for only a second before it settled back to its cement expression.

"Kathrina don't test me" he warned, his voice so sharp it could slice the tension that was caught between the two of them.

"Test what mister goody two shoes? What are you going to do? Yell at me?" Kate began to press, standing from her bed now, "Go ahead do your worst I don't care, we both know you weren't exactly the scary one out of you and uncle" she practically spat the words at him as she stood to face him on an even playing field.

"And you would do well to remember who won that fight" his voice remained even but now a level of danger hinted at the edge of his words, daring Kate to continue, and she was happy to,
