Trouble in Paradise

Chapter 11

The observation room at Coral World. Fun fact: Coral World is aquarium park in the Virgin Islands.

The afternoon couldn't go any faster. My feet paced back and forth. I wanted our date to meaningful.  Oh, who am I kidding. I'm nervous reck.

I never being on a date in four years. And I have already taken a shower four times now.

The pressure kept coming. Valentine's smile made me feel warm inside so this needs to be special.

There was a knock on the door. "Sun, are you ready."

"I'm coming."

My palms were sweating as open the door. And what was I saw left me in a trance. Val was  wearing  black and white dress that curve out her body and showing off her legs. Her hair was brought back into a ponytail and black shoes complimented the necklace.

"Sorry for the wait I was afraid you wouldn't show up."

She smiled. "I arrived early. I was afraid you were chicken to come out."

"Hey, who are calling chicken."

She cluck at me while stick her tongue at me. I tried so hard to contain my laughter.

"Any ways, we should go. I parked the car the lot."

"Where's Baker?"

"He went out to do some errands. And what about Jayden?"

"Still sleeping like a lump. But, I m glad we're doing this. I can to see what the St.Thomas has to offer."

The ride to Coki Beach wasn't that long of drive as we arrived at Coral World. People came in and out of the feeling happy.

"To tell you the truth, I have never been to aquarium before. I would always listen to lecture about marine life in class."

"I do remember you were a sucker for those things."

"Well, that was the old me, Val."

"But that still doesn't mean you can fun as well. We are vacation."

She certainly wasn't wrong about that.

I though I was the nervous wreck coming towards his room like that. He was handsome in his black jeans and white shirt.

I step out of the car as more and more people arrived at the park. Before I could even process this, a sudden shock flow through me as Sun hold my hand as we walked.

I was having so much fun in there. We went touch pool to touch some starfish, went to observatory and saw the employees snorkeling down there. There was even shark for tourist to touch the nurse sharks.

"Mad I so badly want to touch it." I said to Sun.

"Sure, when you have enough money."

"Said the guy not having a job."

"I'll have you know that I have  applied to five different jobs that you can ever count."

I laughed. I never expected him to the joker. We continued to see many marine life. Turtles, Stingrays ,Sea lions, parrots, iguanas. I was little girl in a candy stone. I even decided to take souvenirs with me.

As the warm rays hit the clear ocean, it was time for lunch.

"Okay, I got to know. why did you leave four years ago?" I ask.

"Already giving me the hard questions. Well, I guess you my life was a little rough to say the least."

I look at the palm tress blowing in the wind and back to me. "I was coming back from the store. And my mother was dead. I found her laid out cuts  everywhere and knife stabbed her chest. My dad send me and brother to our aunt before he...he..."

I laid my  down on his thigh. "I'm so sorry for you and your brothers loss. it some have taken a told on you."

"Through the struggle, our aunt  enrolled us into school in Jacksonville. To be fair, I wasn't that happy being the new kid on the block. And I made enemies everytime  I went to school. But, I wasn't afraid to fight back."

"Didn't your aunt make any attempts to contact the police?"

"There wasn't enough time. The whole thing unfolded for quickly."

I cross my legs as Sun pulled out a quarter out of his back pocket.

"I thought to myself that killer would be still on the loose and my family wouldn't be getting thier justice along with many others." He continued.

"And for that reason, I'm here besides vacation. The man's name is Max Korman. And he's probably making his next move."

"Hey, if you want I can-"

"You can't Val. This is something personal. You being involved would the situation worse. That's why I couldn't tell you on the benches."

He then reaches for my hand as he slowly caresses it.

"It doesn't have to be this way. Sun, I've know you. You don't take vengeance on people by making them suffer. The same goes for me."

Our eyes stare at each other, wondering what will happen. Before I could speak, Sun rose to feet.

"Dance with me."

"What?"

"Do you want to dance with me?"

"Umm...okay."

I felt his arms around my waist as he brought us close.

"Now, close your eyes."

I did.

Then all I could hear was the sound of a saxophone being played as he guided me.

"I remember this song. Kenny G, right?"

He chuckled. "My mom and yours were big fans of this man's music. In fact, my mom used to play this to get me to fall asleep."

The sound of sax was drawing me in. My hands brushes the top of his chest.

"You feel heart feels warm and you smell fresh."

"It called a shower. You know water, soap, shampoo-"

"Being naked. I know the drill. But, I can't we stop talking and enjoy this moment."

His hands twirled me around and brought me back to him. Tourists saw our little dance. But, I pay no mind. My heels followed the movement of the song.

As the song came to an end, everyone cheered in delight and some taking pictures of this moment.

I couldn't but bow at them. But I saw Sun pulling out a seashell necklace out of pocket and placed it around my neck.

"A little gift from me to you. I hope you treasure it."

My fingers ran through the shell. It was beautiful.

"I love it."

Then suddenly, my throat went dry as his lips were right in front. Should I? Would he think it's weird?"

I quickly replied. "I think we should get some good food. I mean...the here's is good but..."

"Well, I did spotted a place that sells some good barbecue chicken and ribs. How about it?"

"Sounds like a plan."

I was the one holding his hand we walked out of Coral World. Today was great day to be on a date.

"By the way, did you dream something else on your coming to my room." he asked.

"No, Why?"

"Nothing it's just s feeling. "

I snapped my camera at the two of them came out of the park. At the same time, my walkie talkie came on and my partner was on the line.

"How are they?" she asks.

"Fine. For now. But, I can't shake the feeling something is going to happen to them. But, I made a promise to him. And I intend on keeping that way. I'm return back to shop."
