Deku's Pov

It was just like any other day. I was perched on a low rooftop looking for something to do, as the hero agency I had sighed with hadn't given me a job yet.

I sighed and laid down looking at the clouds for a bit, it sure was boring. I had received my hero's license last summer but I had nothing to do with it, ever since the league of villains disbanded there's not much to do.

A loud scream broke me from my thoughts and I sprung up, I texted my superiors telling them that I was checking it out and then lept into action.

The screams led me to a dark alleyway where I saw a woman being attacked by a hooded figure. I yelled at the figure as a warning, he looked at me in shock, he had dark spiky hair and he seemed to have a purple mask covering the bottom half of his face.

The woman immediately yelled for help, confirming that he had been attacking her so I ran towards them.

The man threw a knife at the woman and bolted. I ran to the woman who was clutching her side in pain from where the knife had landed. I called for an ambulance then started to help her with the wound.

"Your gonna be fine," I told her gently as I applied pressure to the wound, she sucked in a breath.

"There's an ambulance on the way, I just need you to stay with me for a bit, ok?" I asked comfortingly, she nodded and gave me a forced smile.

I heard the sirens approaching and I glanced up to see the paramedics arrive.

"Do you need me here? Or can I go look for the guy who did this?" I asked the guys quickly, they told me they could handle it and I ran off in the direction that the man had gon in.

I used one of all to get on a rooftop so I could scope out the area. I alerted my agency and told them to tell all the pros in my area to keep an eye out for my runaway thug.

It wasn't long before I spotted him running away from what looked like another fight. I followed him silently from the rooftops, he was a ways ahead of me so it took a bit to catch up.

When I did catch up to him he was climbing into the fire escape of what looked to be an abandoned apartment building. I hesitated for a moment before sneaking in, ready for everything, well everything but what I found.

When I entered the room I saw the villain on an old looking mattress, unconscious. After getting a closer look at the villain I noticed that he wasn't wearing a mask, the purple that I had seen was burnt skin that was being held together by sloppy surgical staples.

Looking at his exposed chest I noticed that he was extremely skinny and his ribs were showing and he had hundreds of scars all over his burnt arms and chest. I felt a pang of guilt and covered him with a blanket quietly.

He jolted awake and looked at me with fear in his eyes, making me feel even more guilty. I put my hands up in a surrendering gesture to calm him and he edged away from me towards the corner of the bed like he was scared I would hurt him.

I stood up and held out my hand for him to take, he looked at me skeptically, I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not going to hurt you," I said started quietly,

"I just wanna help," I reassured him, and hesitantly, he took my hand. I pulled him up and he stumbled a bit while I tried to support him.

"Grab anything you'll need, I'm taking you back to my place," I said while letting him go gently, I decided to sit on his beat-up bed, he looked at me clearly surprised.

"W-what? Why?" he asked weakly.

"Because a villain is just a victim whose story hasn't been told," I said soothingly. He looked at me wide-eyed for a few seconds before regaining his composer.

"But why help me? I've hurt people," he asked quietly.

"I can arrest you if that's what you'd prefer, but I think I'd much rather help you. Looking at how thin you are, it appears like you haven't eaten properly in a while, your scars indicate violence and trauma, and looking around where you live I'm guessing life is generally hard for you," I said bluntly, he looked to the floor silently.

"I never wanted it to be this way," he whispered a silent tear ran down his cheek. I leaned forward on my knees and looked up at him.

"Then come with me," I said gently, he wiped the tears from his eyes and nodded. I smiled and helped him pack a small bag of his things, then I brought him home with me.
