"Who is Ansel?"Rye cursed himself silently, trying not to panic too much and thinking about all the possible ways he can handle this situation without revealing the truth.
"Tell me, Rye! Why aren't you speaking?" Andy asked again and it sounded like he was on the verge of crying.
"Ansel.. is the boy I fell in love with." He started, his face morphing into the one of unbearable hurt.
"What?"
"Yeah. I was in love with him. I thought he loved me too because we were to be married soon. But.." He trailed off.
"But what?"
"But he didn't come." He finished as he sat down on the bed. Andy was still confused and gave him a questioning glance.
"I still remember the day when I stood at the alter, all alone, waiting for him to come. But he never did." He said as fake tears started to gather in his eyes.
"Oh." Andy said as he made his way to the bed and sat down beside Rye.
"I'm so sorry, Rye. I didn't know you went through such hurt. The pain of Losing someone you love dearly - I can understand it very well." Andy said, a few tears falling from his eyes.
Rye had an urge to roll his eyes at the boy's vulnerability. Andy cries way too much.'Where do all these tears come from anyways?' He thought annoyedly.
He knew he had to stop Andy from questioning him further so he did the only thing to divert his attention. He crushed the glass he had been drinking wine from with all his strength and It broke into several pieces.
"Oh my- Rye you're bleeding." Andy shouted worriedly.
"I-I'm sorry, I was just--" He looked down at the blood dripping down his hand to the floor.
"Where is the first aid box?" Andy asked in a panicked voice. As soon as Rye gestured to the closet, He rushed towards it, coming back a few seconds later with the medical kit.
"Give me your hand." The boy demanded, grabbing his arm and opening the kit. Rye didn't even flinch when Andy applied some anti septic on it - He was too concentrated on the boy's worried features. He had been seeing this face for as long as he had known Ansel but for some reason, It feels different to be around Andy.
He closed his eyes briefly to get rid of those unwanted thoughts.
"I don't understand why this happens - The people we love the most, always leave us so soon." Andy said as he finished wrapping a gauze around Rye's hand.
"This is the relationship between us, Andy. Both of us have lost someone, we know how it feels to lose the people you love." He started, watching the boy intensely.
"But We can't always live in the past. We have to move on one day or the other." His lips formed a small smile, "And I promise you that our new life is going to be filled with hope, trust and loads of happiness."
"You're right. A relationship should be based on trust and friendship. I'm glad you told me the truth, Ryan." Andy smiled softly.
"Of course. Now, Enough talking. You should get ready. I'll be right back." Rye smiled weakly before leaving the room.
