"Rye, Look what I've made for you!" Andy said as he opened the door, excitement laced in his voice and a huge grin etched on his face. But his grin disappeared when he saw the sight before him.
The room was empty.
There was no one is sight and If It weren't for the dishevelled sheets, then he'd have thought that no one had been in this room for months.
'Rye must be in the bathroom.' He thought, pursing his lips together in disappointment. He sighed before deciding to leave the food on his bed and join the others downstairs. If Rye is not feeling well, then Andy wouldn't disturb him with his presence. As he was about to leave the room, his eyes caught something strange. He squinted in curiosity before picking up the beautiful emerald bracelet sitting on the silk sheets.
"A bracelet?" He thought out loud, observing the beautiful ornament confusedly.
Suddenly, Someone tapped his shoulder which made him squeal and turn around, only to find a startled looking Elisabeth staring back at him.
"What happened? Did I scare you?" She asked worriedly.
"No, it's fine." He smiled before his mind trailed back to the bracelet in his hand.
"Uh, Mum? Is this yours?" He asked, holding the bracelet up.
"No, It's not mine. And it's not Loren's either because she rarely wears bracelets." Elisabeth answered honestly.
"But It's not mine either." Andy whispered to himself but Rye's mother heard it, looking confused as well.
"I don't know why but strange things keep happening today. First, I found Ansel and Rye's wedding card this morning and now this..." He trailed off, confusion written all over his face.
"Who is Ansel?" Elisabeth questioned confusedly, making Andy's head snap towards her.
"What do you mean? Don't you know who Ansel is?" He asked in a surprised voice, watching Elisabeth's eyes flicker in panic and confusion.
He didn't pay attention to it as he continued to talk.
"Ansel, the guy who left Rye at the alter? You don't know him?" He questioned again. He watched Elisabeth relaxing visibly as a sad frown made its way on her face.
"So, He told you about Ansel? Well, I am glad he did. You had to find out someday." Elisabeth said in a sad voice, as if she was remembering something painful.
"Look, Andy" She said, holding Andy's hands, "Ryan was very hurt after Ansel left him. I didn't see my son smile after that day and then he met you. And ever since you came into his life, I feel as if my old Ryan has returned."
Andy smiled softly at her, unknown to the presence of his husband, who was leaning against the door behind the blonde boy, a satisfied smirk carved on his handsome face.
"Please promise me that you'll keep my son happy, Andy."
"I promise." Andy gave her a dimpled smile, squeezing her hands to reassure her that he would never betray her son like Ansel did.
Little did he know that he was the one being betrayed.
"But I still don't know whose bracelet is this and how did it get there?" He pouted. Before Elisabeth could reply, Rye walked into room, making his presence known to the smaller boy.
"I got this bracelet for you." Rye lied smoothly.
"For me?"
"Yes. I was actually going to surprise you with it. That's why I left the room; to find you. But Loren told me you were here so I had to come back. Thanks for ruining the surprise by the way!" The brunette boy said sarcastically.
