Authors Note: Hey if you made it this far, thanks!! Tbh I have a general story idea but I honestly am not sure where this is going so I'm glad you're on this journey with me! Happy reading!

The summer months that followed Grandma's passing were hot and miserable. My time was split between renovations and working to pay for those renovations. The $10,000 from Uncle Roger gave me a great head start but with all the general repairs and demolition that had to be done in some parts of the house, I quickly had to break into my savings. Progress was being made and about a month before school started it was clean and stable enough for me to move in. I ended up having to completely removed the third floor, as the leaking from the roof made the wood unstable and beyond repair. Luckily my favorite features survived such as the sunroom and second floor master bedroom. I was eternally grateful when, during my third night sleeping there, a huge thunderstorm passed through but the walls held and no leaks were made apparent by the pounding rain.
I had tried to keep as much original details as I could without it being too different from my own personal taste. I was not left any of the furniture but I was okay with that. I chose an almost farmhousey/modern contemporary style and I'd like to think it suited the structure nicely. Most everything from the walls to the floors were white (mostly because I'm broke and white paint is cheap). The furniture like the couches and tables were black or a dark wood grain to contrast. I would have loved to have some actual accent pieces for pops of color but I had to make do with bright throw pillows and rugs. The kitchen was probably one of my favorite places to remodel. My grandmother had held onto her wood-burning stove for as long as possible and there was no microwave in sight when I first arrived. It was nice having a beautiful granite countertop and a cute island with a dishwasher. The only reason I was able to spend so much on the House was because I had won, no, worked for a full-scholarship to college. I even went to a cheaper university than the one I had really wanted in order to save money. It was only a 35 minute drive from the House. It was kind of a pain getting a waiver signed so I didn't have to stay in the dorms; I guess being deathly allergic to mold and mildew helps sometimes. I did have to have someone else come and help me with the bathroom renovations because of that too...
Soon the bedroom will be complete and I can sleep in a real bed again instead of a mattress on the floor in the living room. Every night before I go to bed I make sure every door and window is locked. (Yay anxiety!) Last of all, I latch the door to the basement and set a chair in front of it, no giant spiders or hidden dead bodies are going to get me! At least, that was the idea...
