My eyes opened only to be met with more darkness. The chilling nightmares I had during my slumber haunted me even after I was awake. I struggled to hold onto her voice. Something soft and sweet that had floated its way down into my head. It slipped away, along with the rest of my dreams. My throat stung, as if I had been screaming the entire time I was asleep. Time had lost its meaning years ago, when I was first sealed away in this tomb. I felt the iron-hot anger still within. If only they hadn't found me.... I pushed the lid off of me and it crumbled to the floor like glass. My limbs and joints were stiff from being in one position for so long. I set one foot on the floor and quickly recoiled. The spell prevented me from moving from my coffin, so long as the writings on the wall remained. I hurled a chunk of rock at the symbols, causing them to split. Now to take care of the gate. My body was weak from not feeding, even a simple motion like throwing drained me. I dragged myself to the steel bars that separated me from my freedom. I had no idea how long it had been or how much the world had changed. So long as there was prey outside this prison, it didn't matter. The bars bent easily to my will and soon I was making my way up the tunnel.
I found the door sealed. My captors had done their best to make sure it would be difficult for me to get out. With a hard kick, a hole big enough for me to fit through appeared. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the change in light. So many different smells surrounded me and confused my senses. Something smelled of soap, another like cookies, and then there was one unmistakable scent: blood. I smiled. The door at the top of the basement stairs was unlocked, finally something easy. What I found was a young woman looking at me in horror, she was armed with, a wooden gun? I felt the bloodlust swell in me. Though it had been ages, the thrill of the hunt never changes. In a second, I had her pinned to the wall. Running my lips against her tender neck, I found the vein I was looking for. My victim burst into terrified tears. "Shhhh" I looked into her eyes and compelled her to calm down. Just as I was about to bite down I felt something large and heavy crash into me. A searing pain like needles was in my arm. It was her mangy mutt. I thought I had heard it's barking while I was asleep. I compelled it to release and it collapsed to the floor. The girl cried out, "what did you do?!" In a moment I was on her again, and this time I didn't hesitate to bite down. It was amazing relief to feel the strength return to my body. I felt the woman's life force start to weaken, but I did not want to drain her completely. I was just not that way. After a moment, I released and she fainted completely.
