"I can see you but you can't see me
I could touch you and you wouldn't even feel meI'm just waiting, 'til you really let your guard down
You're relaxed, you're sublime, you're amazing
You don't even know the danger you're facing"I for once did not complain about the song that is playing. In fact, I actually like it, and it sounds oddly familiar. Jason's musical taste is different from mine. He's more into rock and metal while I'm a classical music fan.
"What is this song called?" I ask him.
"Wait let me check," Jason says, grabbing the CD. His blue eyes glint with excitement at the thought that I am interested in his music. "This is from the new album Slipknot released about a month ago. May 21st, 2004..."
I let him do his digging while I shuffle case files on my messy desk and take a sip of coffee. It's about 8 a.m., and I am still groggy from sleep. The past week was tiring. Madison, a police officer, was discovered stoned to death in her own home. As police detectives, Jason and I are assigned to that case, and we barely have anything. Never have I ever received a case like this, and I am 33 years old with 8 years of experience. This killer did a pretty damn good job covering up his tracks.
"Yo, Zaid," Jason says, snapping me out of my thoughts. "It's called The Virus of Life. Sounds cool, huh?"
"Yeah, but what the hell is the singer saying?"
"No idea, but it's Corey Taylor, so he sounds awesome."
So Corey Taylor must be the singer. I look out the window. The sun is shining bright outside. I open the window to let some fresh air and natural lighting into our office. My large brown eyes squint at the light as I feel the cool summer breeze on my skin. The St. Paul Police Department doesn't do a decent job with the air conditioning.
"I'm gonna tear you apart and make you see
Make you see!"Where did I hear this song?
