Puddle

Sometime during Chrom's childhood. Chrom

"Lissa! Get back inside! You're gonna get wet!" I called after my three-year-old sister as she ran into the gardens.

"Play!" She wouldn't listen. It just recently stopped raining and as soon as Lissa saw that there were puddles on the ground, she was sprinting towards them fast than I've ever seen her run before.

I sighed, leaning against a column. "Emm will be mad!" Except I don't know at who: me because I was supposed to watch her or this rambunctious child.

Before I could say anything else, Lissa jumped leg-first into a puddle, giggling. I grimaced as her yellow play-dress got splattered with water and mud. Annnnd that settles it. I'm in big trouble.

She happily splashed around, not caring for the world. I looked up, noticing the grey clouds that were still present and the unmistakable scent of ozone. "Dang it... Lissa! Come here! It's going to rain again!"

My little sister stuck her tongue out at me. "No!" She continued to play.

"Lissa!!!" This child will be the end of me. I don't know how Emm managed to raise me without going crazy.

She looked over to me, pale-green eyes pleading. "Play with me!"

"I don't want to get wet!"

She sat down, sticking out her lip in a pout. "Chrooooooooooom!!!"

I pinched the bridge of my nose. This child... "Fine! I'm going over, but you better be out of that puddle!" I marched over to my sister, who was grinning from ear-to-ear.

As soon as I reached her, I sighed, "Now, listen here-"

I didn't even get to finish my sentence before she splashed me with water. I looked down at her, a mischievous glint in her eyes. I frowned playfully. "Why you little..."

She splashed me again. "Got you!" she giggled before taking off.

"Lissa!" I laughed heartily. I made chase, cutting her off short and splashing her with water. She shrieked, still giggling.

Eventually, we both ended up slipping, absolutely drenched in water and mud. Little Lissa could barely stand with the amount of laughing she was doing. I smiled at her. "We're not done yet!" I sent a wave her way.

"Noooo!" She flopped down and splashed me everywhere.

By the end of our play session, we were soaked from head to toe and slicked with mud.

Emm sighed as she came to collect us. "What did you two do?"

I held Lissa close, amusement warming my heart. "We were just playing in the puddles!" I said through chattering teeth.

"Big Sis should play!" Lissa exclaimed, placing a muddy hand on Emm's white skirt.

"Er, I think I'll pass for right now." She took Lissa's hand. "Now, come. Let's get you two cleaned up."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine..." I had fun though! You know, sometimes Lissa does indeed remind me that I'm not a lot older than she is. We're both kids. We're supposed to have fun. Also, this battle is not over. I will be the puddle splashing champion if it's the last thing I do.
