Never have I ever been a bad boyfriend. I buy Anastasia flowers, drive her around, and tell her she's pretty. What more could she want? I'm compassionate and caring-- all I know about Ana is how to love her.
I know that baby is mine... My mother is the one who doubts it.
I tapped a pen on the counter, a repeating thump thump thump.
"Pal," Todd grunted, taking a seat next to me. He had been working with me for nearly eight months... He still forgets my name.
"Hello, Todd." I said, lifting my hand in a gentle greeting.
"Why do you look like someone pissed in your Cheerios?" Todd said, less inquisitively and more just making conversation. I shrugged, sure that I wasn't interested in telling my middle-aged deadbeat coworker my relationship problems.
Elaine came towards us, her red hair swishing behind her in a high ponytail. "You guys, my dad said there is a meeting going on here pretty soon,"
Todd grunted in response, and I lifted myself out of my seat. "Elaine, it's midday. We need someone to watch the floor--"
"Dad just said that we're all going to get called in like, twenty minutes. So just be ready or whatever," Elaine skipped off, leaving Todd and I to deal with the young man who was trifling through our discounted game bin, obviously trying to find something.
