Chapter Six

I heard three obnoxious raps on the door.

Thud Thud Thud.

My mind raced with all the possibilities-- and then stopped. It was Calvin. He knew I read his message. He knew I was expecting him.

Thud Thud Thud. This time, louder.

"Ana, open up," A familiar voice called. My hands were shaking, I didn't know what to do. "Come on, Riss told me you were here,"

I fumbled with the doorknob, twisting the lock vertically, my hands shaking violently. "Wh-Who is it?" I whispered. I cracked the door, sure to see Calvin on the other side.

"Jesus, Anastasia, I know you don't want to see me but you can at least let me talk for a minute," The auburn headed boy said. Emmett came in through the door and shut it behind him, not letting me speak.

My anxiety for Calvin was replaced by annoyance for Emmett.

"I didn't invite you," I uttered. Emmett rolled his eyes and sat on the couch.

"I know," Emmett admitted. "You haven't called or texted me in two days. Haven't replied to mine either. I've been trying,"

"Maybe I've been busy with my supposed baby-daddy," I snapped. Emmett raised his hands in defeat.

"My mother said that!" He was trying to keep his cool. "Not me."

"You asked me! You had the audacity to fucking ask me! I've given you so much time and effort, and you've never doubted me before," I was fuming. My hands were clenched down by my sides and my temples were pulsing with anger. "but now, now that you're a father, now you've decided that it's possible I'm not faithful."

Emmett slouched back onto the couch, letting it suck him in. He rubbed his hand over his face, ruffling his hair. "I'm sorry, Ana. I said something stupid," he stood up now, walking towards me, "I need you. Please, for the love of God, forgive me."

His eyes were pleading, and his hands were clasped at his lower stomach. I put my arms out, and he held me for a long minute. "Okay," I whispered. "Only for now,"

Emmett let out a small laugh. Things were back to normal... For now.
