Once upon a December..

I had returned to the castle, after a long period of time living in the enchanted forest. The Queen had regally requested my presence (Anna had begged me to return for the winter festive). Gale had promised me he would keep an eye on the other spirits, the Northuldra and the forest. He would travel through Arendale to update both The Queen and me. Bruni had the natural snow of a bitter December to keep cool in, and that would naturally keep him busy on his own. Nokk was happy too, and well the Earth Giants, well they were asleep most of December so I didn't ask. The Northuldra were also welcomed to join, but they had their own traditions and duties during the cold periods. Honeymaren wanted to come, but her and Ryder were needed by Yelana to help with the tribe during the colder months.

On returning back to the palace, I had settled back into the warmth of a royal bed. It was so nice being in the palace, and not being the Queen. Being off duty I decided to take a day wandering around the castle, to the parts I hadn't visited in years.  There was a wing of the palace what was rarely used, especially when we reduced our staff when I was a child, there was no one to upkeep it. Nor really any need for it. Walking down one of the dusty, hazy corridors, one of the many I had hardly went down as a child, I find one familiar one. This one, before it had become fully unused, had in fact seen life a few times. A distant memory of me and Anna running down, playing hide and seek. These halls had been more than the perfect spot to hide. It was extremely rare for anyone to walk down these corridors since the passing of my parents.

As I walk further down, I see something on the wall that hits my heart a thousand of times repeatedly.  As I stop and stare, I realize, my feet had lead me to here, for a reason. I came here for one reason, and one reason only. I needed to talk to somebody. I pick up a thin black silk cloth, delicately as I can. It almost escapes out of my hand, slipping through my fingers.

"Mother, Father" I softly speak, almost whispering. Even though I was all alone, I wanted the moment to be even more private.  I Smile up at their portrait. looking at their proud smiles, They stand proudly to be Queen and king. I breathe in the scent of old paint on the canvas. I shall be proud of myself, just like you were.  I whisper in my mind. Stepping back, I let the material faintly slip out of fingers, falling back in place on the picture.

Walking on, I look back one last time bidding farewell to my parents. Passing by a window, I noticed a beautiful carved scene, glowing beautiful out the panel glass. A natural phenom had occurred that always squeezed my heart delightfully, and made me feel secure. Snow falling, and not magical snow, just pure natural white snow. The snow had thickened and was now falling heavily, and had begun layering up. Perfectly, the fresh stacked snow in the ground layered untouched. Starring at the whimsicalness of it all, an idea flowed in my head. I knew how to take Anna away from her workload. In the next moment, I ran out of the corridor. My mood had changed with the atmosphere.

The stairs to the corridor had reminded me of an happy memory, which lead me to ungracefully run with jumps and happy twists. yes, snow made my day. Jumping up and down in the air, I yell joyfully "It's snowing!" repeatedly until I reach Anna's wing. I didn't need to care as much about being composed, as I was no longer technically a monarch. Swinging back and forth outside of a big wooden door, painted in floral greens and pale blues, I knock heavy several times.

"Anna? " I whisper threw the crack of the door. "Do you want to build a snowman?" I sing, slowly getting louder. There was no response. "It doesn't have to be a snowman," I lightly sang threw the key whole. Before I could finish, the door flings open and Anna stands looking down at me, with amused smile on her face.

"I do have all these papers to finish," she says rolling her eyes to her desk. "But I do need a well-deserved break," she says leaning on one hip. With her hands wrapped around her chin, she looks down at the lovable snowman. "Olaf, what do you think?" she says, swiftly moving her hands-on her hip with a creeping smile.

Olaf looks up, about to answer the Queen seriously. In his younger years, I could imagine the snowman eyes to fill with wonder and say "Oooh I'd love that!- I can have another friend!"  in an excited voice. Instead, he spoke monotone. "Well. We have to finish that paper misses! But I have read that breaks are needed for the brain to focus. Anna, I will allow you to take a break." Anna laughed at him and pattered him on the head. The snowman had become so serious lately. Within the next few minutes we ran down the stairs, in to the frontcourt. Olaf holding mine and Anna's hand.

Anna had a deep emerald green cape, fit for a queen, the Queen. A thick winter royal gown, in a warm blue. Paired with her outfit was big fluffy boots, something she wouldn't normally wear whilst doing duties. I normally would wear my white crystal dress, as the cold never bothered me, but Anna demanded I dressed festive. So instead, On top of my dress I wore like an second skin, I had an underskirt and a top layer skirt. In an icy cool blue, decorated with snowflake crystals and gems. My sleeves of my normal dress were slightly altered with magic, to become puffy to match the bottom half of my dress. Olaf remained mostly normal, Anna found him wearing clothes an odd site after her coronation (and pleaded him not to do it again). However, despite her requested he opted he wore a ' bowtie' around his neck around the holidays.  Really it was a just a plucked holly berry and two leaves. He wanted to dress to impress the royal court and the kingdom with his festive gesture. In the untouched snow, I let my bare footstep in and make the first footprint. That's when I realised nobody else's was out here, or anywhere in fact. The streets were empty. Where was everybody?

"Nobody seems to be out.." I whispered to Anna. "Odd, but remember they all have work to do, and have their own traditions," Anna spoke. "We all can't just be wandering the woods," she added under her breath, a little harshly, thinking I couldn't hear.

I knew Anna had gave me her blessing, and I Knew she had took a little to much work, so I let the comment slide. It was time to have some fun, and let her get away from the stress.

"More for us!" excitedly I yelled like a child, running furthermore in the snow beginning to roll out the snow. The others followed, rolling out their own parts for the shared snowman.

Assembling the snowman, with a flick of my wrist I wave magic that lifts Olaf several inches off the ground to add the head.

"What should we call her?" Anna asked, losing her self to the moment.

"I don't know.. we should let Olaf choose!" I decide, after no names coming into my head. He acted like a no-it-all, so it was only suitable he picked.

"Mmm how about Sven?" He asks.

"No Olaf." Anna chuckles, shaking her head side to side.

"How about.. I know! Elsa?  Or Anna?" He says, jumping forward.

"No Olaf!" Both me and Anna chimed in together this time, although Anna sounded a little bit annoyed and impatient.  "Olaf! That's our names!" Anna cries out. "Olaf, the names can't be someone you know. It has to be something different." I say smoothly, covering over Anna's grumpiness.

"Okay. I know guys."

"Sure..." Anna says untrusting of his suggestions.

"SAMANTHA!" He shrieks.

"Samantha?" Anna repeats, sounding confused.

"I don't know a Samantha." Olaf comments, underlying the rule we had made.

"I like it," I say, smiling at the new addition.

"Samantha," Anna repeats, as if getting used to the name.

"Why isn't it moving?" he asks confusedly.

"Because we built, her, with real snow. And not magic." I explain.

"Can you make her real?" Olaf asks.

"You can, can't you?" Anna stares me out.

"I don't know. But I can try,"
