*seventh day*
Ernst never thought that Eins would take to nicknames.
Much less adorable ones.
Ernst thought that it might have something to with last night. It was quite unexpected to wake up in the morning the morning after a night of kissing to find the purple-haired prince spewing out disaster diaries before the sun rose. It was also quite unexpected to wake up in the morning and not have Eins notice him until Ernst placed a casual peck on the prince’s cheek. Eins had nearly banged his head against Ernst’s chin.
Now, in the afternoon, Ernst was watching Eins mumbled and write in his new diaries. Until, of course, Eins noticed him.
“Yes, countess?”
“Eins, there is no need for that.”
“...”
“Princess?”
“Yes, countess?”
Oh. It was retaliation, Ernst realized. “Why that nickname?”
“I am a prince, not a princess. You are a count, not a countess.” Eins paused as he set his quill down. “It is only logical this way, is it not?”
“Mmm…” Ernst thought about the matter as he draped his arms around Eins’s neck. His white hair dropped into Eins’s face. “I suppose so?”
Eins removed the hat from Ernst’s head. “So you suppose.”
Ernst raised an eyebrow. There was an unusual amount of sarcasm in Eins’s tone. “Oh, so I suppose, princess?” He challenged, thrusting his face besides Eins’s to nuzzle the purple-haired prince’s cheek.
Eins turned red, looking as if he wanted to lose himself in the white strands of Ernst’s hair. Wordlessly he let Ernst nuzzle his blushing cheek.
Ernst didn't think too much of the silence until he heard a sound like fabric hitting the floor. He gasped. “Eins! You threw my hat?!” He ran to his hat, abandoning Eins.
“It's not like I care much about it.”
“But, Eiiiiins, don't you like me better with my hat on~?”
“No, I indeed do not.”
“Not even a little bit?” Ernst pouted as he resumed his spot, face beside Eins’s, after making sure his hat was safe on Eins’s bed.
“No.” As usual, Eins winds a strand of hair around his finger. Except, now, he pointedly takes one of Ernst’s, which is besides his head.
“Hmm…” Ernst does notice that Eins is playing with his hair purposefully, but he ignored it as he lifted a hand to pet Eins’s hair. “I don't believe that.”
“Believe whatever you want.”
“Eiiiins, that's mean~”
“Mmm…” Eins stared out the window, his eyes faraway. His deft fingers twined and twisted Ernst’s hair thoughtfully.
Ernst liked seeing Eins like this, away from the duties of being the firstborn prince. Ernst had often thought that, if Eins hadn't been born royalty, he would still be the same person he is right now. Eins didn't lose himself like this often, but Ernst always thought Eins was beyond reach in this state.
Even so, he turned his head and pecked Eins’s cheek.
Eins snapped out of his trance and glared at Ernst. “I was thinking.”
“I noticed, princess.” Ernst grinned, almost wickedly, and captured Eins’s lips with his own.
The sensation of kissing Eins was still new to Ernst. Like if electrical shocks passed through their lips and light flashed in his closed eyes and his blood rushed, he imagined it might feel something like that.
Eins moaned against Ernst, and they broke apart. It was hard to kiss Eins when he was in a chair, after all.
Eins’s cheeks were flushed, his mouth slightly parted, his eyes annoyed. Ernst found rather preferred Eins like this, even more than Eins when he lost himself.
“What was that for, countess?”
“Why, I felt like it, princess.”
“I do not find that a valid reason.”
Eins pulled Ernst in by his collar, fiercely kissing him. Ernst pushed back, pushing his hands through Eins’s hair.
Then Eins broke away, looking as if he were out of breath.
“Out now, Ernst. I must finish my work.”
“But, Eins, I saw your-”
“Out.”
So Ernst went outside, but not far.
