Knights of Snowballia: Reprisals

Chapter 1: A Kingdom Divided

In the darkest night, flames engulf the city of Elkhart, innocent citizens fear for their lives as they try to run away from the impending disaster in front of them. Lago Domashev has exposed himself to the mythical Staff of Thanatos, taking the entirety Pyradin's Flame to spread his rage and malice across Elkhart. Military units are sent out to help defend against Lago as the city continues to burn. Infantry troops run aggressively through the scorching flames as Lago summons monsters created from liquid magma to deal with ground troops, and fire breathing condors to shroud Elkhart in never-ending blazes.

"Concentrate your fire on the magma dwellers!", a soldier yells as they take heavy fire. The magma beasts begin to quickly overwhelm the soldiers as they start burning the surrounding areas. Citizens are guided by authorities to evacuate immediately as the city of Elkhart burns heavily due to Lago's intensive heat waves.
"We interrupt this broadcast of the Snowballia-Grenadyn Quellsan tournament to bring you this shockingly destructive report. Former emperor of the Grenadyn Empire Lago Domashev, otherwise known as the Phantom Scourge has escaped from his captivity after a failed execution attempt that went awry. We ask that everyone should stay indoors as this threat will set the lands ablaze.", a news anchorman reports as we cut back to Lago burning Elkhart.
The monsters he summoned continue to ravage the city as most of the Elkhart army begins to fall back, knowing if they even attempt to kill the beasts it will be at the cost of their own lives.
Meanwhile, a family of three is seen rushing to gather their belongings as their child begins to fear the worst. Several minutes pass by as they finish gathering what they need to survive, but as they head out the door it begins to burn. A magma beast breaks into their home, sending the family into a panic. Outside the place, a hooded figure is overseeing the attack. It begins to run towards the family.
The father of the family scurried to find a defensive tool to attempt to drive off the fiendish creature as the mother is seen protecting the child, he manages to find a large dagger and begins to defend his family. The magma beasts heated skin instantly vaporizes his dagger, as the fire that burns the hilt spreads to his hand, causing him to scream in agony as the other family members turn their heads away in fear. The hooded figure nears the house, armed with a lance that has an iced tip. The magma beast continues to advance toward the panicking family, and as it prepares to fire its magmatic breath, the figure stabs the beast with the iced tip of the lance. The family opens their eyes after realizing the beast was slain as they finally see their rescuer. It is Allison, who greets the family and orders them to run as far away from Elkhart as possible, telling them that she and the Knights will handle the rest. She dashes out of the house, using her ice lance to cool off the flames set by her former lover. A pair of magma beasts stand in her way as they fire their energy toward her, only for it to be reflected back by her abilities. What Allison does not know is that she cannot fight fire with fire, as the reflected flames increase the size of the beasts by a couple feet. She gazes at them in fear, and as one of the beasts raises its fist to strike her, she weaves away from the beasts attack zone and goes for the legs, crippling one of them. She then jumps into the air and hurls her lance to the head, killing one of the beasts. The other one gets a good off guard hit on Allison as she is knocked into one of the house walls. She gets back up and is too late to raise her weapon as the beasts arm prepares to attack.
She closes her eyes and prays she'll make it alive.
The beast suddenly freezes in front of her as Andrew crushes it with a sphere of solidified water, putting out the fires in the area.
"Looks like you didn't know everything about these suckers didn't you?", Andrew says as Allison stares at him, calling him a showoff for his magical abilities.
"You know, if you want to become a great magician like myself and Sir Hira, you'll really have to tap into the powers of the Elementals. But that's for another day my student, we have to stop your former lover from burning Elkhart and possibly the rest of the world.", he added.
She rolls her eyes due to his sayings and continues to fight off the fiends summoned by Lago.
From another part of the city, we see DJ and Jordan gathering enough material to fortify themselves as they take aim at the Phantom Scourge himself.
