as they got to the police station she was put in a cell for three hours and just as she tried to get out until Detective Michaels came in and open the door
"You're free to go"
"What do you mean I'm free to go where are my..."
"You do not need to worry about them I was able to clear your name, your friends will be dealt with tomorrow morning"
"I'm not going anywhere without them"
"listen tsume it's best if you do exactly what I tell you and forget them they're not getting out of jail"
he said seriously as tsume looked at him shock not believing what he was saying
"You bastard what did you do to them! What did you do to my friends?!"
She shouted at him with rage as he only sighs not wanting to tell her what happened
"It doesn't matter what happened to them what really matters is that you're free"
He said placing both hands on her shoulder as she looked away from him, a rush of emotion came to her
"I can't go back... I just can't go back"
she said to herself as she tried to cover up her pain
"Are you saying you can't go back to bulldog? Do you not have a place to stay?"
"I can't go back..."
She said again repeating it over and over, detective Michael felt sorry for the young girl and decided to take her to his apartment for the night. a lot of the officer didn't think that was a good idea but he ignored their opinions and did what he felt was right. Once there he showed her to the guest room and allowed her to take a shower and handed her a change of clothes
"I can't believe this is happening"
tsume thought to herself as she sat in the shower allowing the water to run over her body, she already knew that she and her friends were not allowed to return back to the headquarters because they have failed the mission and also was told by their boss that if they got captured or arrested not to return because they would track them.for all she knows is that their headquarters is already being overrun by cops and the boss is probably being sent to jail and probably got a bigger sentence than her friends got.
she wanted to escape from this nightmare but she didn't know how, she didn't have her weapons and clearly now that she is with the detective there is no way for her to actually get away. She came out of the bathroom fully clothes as detective Michael saw her and invited her to watch some TV with him even though she felt like he might pull something, he reassured her that he is unarmed and he wasn't going to hurt her. after watching some TV, detective Michael couldn't get his eyes off her, sometimes he would find himself looking at her a couple of times before he would look back at the TV
"I know it's none of my business but do you mind if I ask you something?"
he asked her and she looked at him waiting for him to ask his question
"do you have anywhere to go other than going back to bulldog?"
"The boss was practically the only family I could ever remember, my real family, abandoned me at the age of 10 so to answer your question directly no I don't. And even if I did I wouldn't return to them"
"... I'm sorry to hear that, until you are able to get back on your feet you are allowed to stay here with me for as long as you want"
"But I'm guessing in return I might have to give you something don't I?"
Detective Michael sigh as she was dead on the money, she wasn't that easy to fool or trick as she could see right through detective Michael smile and kindness
"I just need you to tell me where your boss is located"
"... Are you going to put me in jail if I do tell you or if I don't?"
"Of course not I wouldn't do that to you"
"Why did you save me, why didn't you save them?"
tsume asked him, these questions were the same ones that his co-workers asked why would he try so hard to save a criminal that didn't want to be saved, let alone did so much stealing to be the only thing that caught detective Michaels eye
"I really wish I could answer that for you but to be honest I don't really know myself why I wanted to save you so bad... I, I could lose my job for what I did but I was given a pass to save one person and I chose to save you"
"What about the little girl DW don't you think she's more important than me?!"
"Don't worry about her she is not going to be in jail she will be sent to her parents just as soon as we can get ahold of them"
"Then why don't you set us all home and not trap us like rats"
"You know I can't save everyone"
"but you're willing to risk your life for me, someone, you don't even know someone that you been trying to catch for a very long time and you just gave in?"
"I gave in for you, not for them, there was a deal involved and I had to do so unless someone else is going to take my job and capture you and have you all executed"
"then why didn't you back down why didn't you allow me to go down with them it just doesn't make any sense why you would do something like that"
"I'm sorry"
Was all he could say as the room was silent with them just sitting there. By the next day detective Michaels woke up and found tsume sleeping in his bed, he got out of bed trying not to wake her as he went to the kitchen to make some breakfast an hour later tsume woke up came into the kitchen smelling the fresh scent of pancakes. when it was time for work Michael had no choice but to take tsume with him to the office saying she didn't want to be by herself and he didn't want to leave her alone in the apartment, afraid that she might actually get away. even at work, it was hard for anyone to ignore the criminal that was sitting at detective Michaels chair while he was working. they were working on the case of the missing child that went missing about a week ago and they couldn't find any leads on how to find her. It took them some time to figure out how she disappeared and who was the kidnapper. this all came to an end until tsume stood up and told them exactly how who and where the girl was, but the sad part was that she said that the little girl didn't make it.
in the police station, no one believed her as one of the officers told her to sit down or else she would be put under arrest. this didn't bother tsume at all that she did what she was told, secretly detective Michaels knew full well that even though nobody else believed her he wanted to test this theory himself and had her write down where the little girl can be, and just like that a day later they actually did find the body of the little girl.
