If you were asked to remember the exact date and time you started dating Dick Grayson, chances stand pretty high, you couldn't do it. But you can always seem to remember how and what the situation was, down to the exact detail.

It had been one of those days. Not to mention like usual, Dick was on your ass for every little mistake. And here everyone was thinking it was Bruce's job to be a hardass. Somehow though, Dick always managed to find a flaw in whatever you did. And then he would point the flaw out and bam you'd be lunging at him. 'Your parry is off y/n'  'You're two and a half minutes late y/n'  'You have an 89% in math class y/n'  'Your landing was 7/8ths off y/n'... The list went on and on and on. All he ever did was tell you that you were wrong.

The strangest thing about the entire ordeal was that you hadn't done anything to make Dick hate you, and you had no clue why he was so mean to you. It was like he didn't think you were good enough to be there. You tried so hard to prove to him that you belonged just as everyone else but his opinions never budged. Even Damian had loosened up on his hatred of you after a little while, and before long, you were his favorite person to work with. However Dick held onto his judgements about you. More than once, you had heard almost every single one of the boys giving him a hard time about it. Even Alfred and Bruce. Everyone except Damian. Until today...

That day when you arrived in the Batcave, you guys had just finished a field mission that had gone terribly wrong. Bruce had sustained some injuries and couldn't make it but he was watchin from the batcomputer and you were all about to be told off. Your motor-cycle came to a screeching halt and you furiously popped the kickstand. Immediately, you began making large strides towards the stairs that lead up to the manor. You were not in the mood to have to hear Dick blame all of the missions problems on you.

Bruce stopped you before you could ascend up the staircase. "Y/n, we're not done here." Holding in a sigh of frustration you turned back and plastered a fake smile on your face. "Would you like to come stand with us, Y/l/n. It's not as bad if we take it together." You smiled softly at Damian's offer, but if you were any closer to Dick, you might rip his head off. You shook your head slightly, and Dick muttered something under his breath. Glaring, your gaze shifted to him. "What was that?" You snarled out at him. He shook his head, "I just said that per usual, you've got to go off and do your own thing. Is it so hard to be a team mate? Are you even apart of this team, really?" His words hurt. And although you didn't speak much, or at all, Dick knew just what to say that would get to you.

Hot tears poured down your face and Dick faltered. None of the boys had ever seen you cry. You stayed in it just long enough that you caught a glimpse of Damian yelling at Dick, but there was a ringing in your ears that didn't make anything better. Now you were completely out of it and sat on the cold stone floor of the batcave. Your knees were pulled up to your chest and you hands tightly grasped the sides of your head in feeble attempts to block the noise invading your ears. It was happening all over again. Your parents had abandoned you, taking only your siblings as only they were "apart of the family" and now this team was doing the same thing.

A hand on your shoulder startled you. It was Bruce's large, gloved hand. "Don't touch me-" You scrambled back away from his grip and backed into a small dark corner. "It will be easier for all of us if I don't say goodbye and just find somewhere else to be." You were met with very confused glances. "Y/n, what are you talking about?"  Jason slowly removed his domino mask and his bright green eyes bore into yours. Jason and you had always gotten along. He had a calming affect that you found endearing. You struggled with the same issues of abandonment and anxiety. Everything clicked into place in his head suddenly and he started making large steps towards your huddled form.

You held your arms out in front of you as far as they would go and Jason stopped dead in his tracks. "It's okay Y/n. It's just me, Jaybird." He started towards you again, this time making smaller, more manageable steps. Until he stood in front of you. He pulled you into his arms and you collapsed into them.

The group looked confused. So much had happened in such a small time. They had seen you cry for the first time and then shockingly seen a soft side of Jason. "Care to fill us in, little wing?" Dick's voice caused you to nestle deeper into Jason and for him to shoot a steely gaze toward Dick. "You, dickwad, have triggered an anxiety attack due to her abandonment issues. I don't understand why you string her along with your cruel words. What you have failed to realise is that in protecting your masculinity, you broke her heart."

Jason's words set off a lightbulb in Dick's head. Every thing he had been confused about these past couple of weeks had suddenly become clear. He was in love with you. What he thought was hatred, was love. He had never felt this kind of love. All he ever had were flings. So naturally he didn't recognize the feeling when it smacked him in the face. "Can me and Y/n have the room please?" Bruce smirked as he watched his oldest son understand what he had known to be true for weeks. Without saying a word, he guided the rest of his animal-like children up towards the manor. They could all use some food anyways.

"Y/n," Dick's heart broke as he watched you flinch at his voice. He had fucked up big time. No though, he planned to remedy that and make up for breaking your heart. "Y/n, I love you. I'm sorry I have been such an asshole lately. There is so much happening and so much going on that I can't control. But I don't think I would ever want to control or change how I feel about you. You are beautiful and perfect and there is nothing in this world that compares to you." Dick was getting emotional now and he made his way over to where you were standing, no longer crying but stone-faced.

Dropping onto his knees in front of you, he wrapped both arms tightly around your waist and sobbed into you. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I don't ever want you to feel like you don't belong here and I don't ever want you to leave." Your resolve crumbled with his broken sobs. Dropping down  next to him, you took his face in your hands. You swiped the domino mask from his face and kissed in between his blue eyes. Then his nose. And finally you smashed your lips onto his. The kiss was salty and sloppy. But it was yours. It was something perfect that the two of you made with passion and endless amounts of love.

"Whenever I'm falling, I think of you, and you're my net."

His lips met yours again.
