My alarm clock, my worst enemy, beeped abnormally loud, making my eye open in annoyance. I then realized why I programmed it this early.
It was Monday.
I groaned and got up, stretching as I looked around my room. No more Australia and no more homeschool I guess. Surprised at why my mom didn't wake me up, I dressed myself in my usual clothes as I made my way down to the kitchen in a hurry. In the mornings, my sister would normally have been up already, going to college and whatnot, but since we moved, my sister stayed in Australia, and I envied her for that.
I grabbed an apple from my fridge and put in whatever I needed in my inventory, and walked my way to school, careful to not wake my mom up in the process. I take a few bites, looking around my neighborhood and spotting a few people my age walking the same direction I was walking to.
Even by thinking about my first day at a school, which was literally right now, it made my stomach tie into countless knots. In other words, I was pretty nervous. I picked up my pace, and as I did, the school building came into view, making me gulp. It was a red brick building, with so much people crowding around it that you could swear someone was holding a frat party in there, but unluckily, instead of people hanging around and having fun, they were goofing around, dreading at the school day to start.
The school definitely looked taller from close up, making me feel intimidated, not that I wasn't already. I was getting countless weird looks from other students as I tried parting the Red Sea of people. Once I entered the building, and found a trash can, I immediately tossed the core in the trash. I ducked from random flying objects, and I looked down at my schedule, biting my bottom lip in nervousness. The first class read 'Homeroom', and I just shrugged and walked around the halls, looking for the specific room number.
Once I reached it, I sighed shakily and opened the door, hoping for the best. I entered the class, and sure enough, the people playing around stopped all of a sudden once I entered the room. I gave them a small wave and looked around for an empty seat. I was stopped by a hand gripping on my shoulder and I froze, turning around in the process. A man with explorer clothes and an explorer hat, which I could only guess that he was the teacher, smiled, "Take a seat in between Vikk and Mango over there." He pointed at am empty seat in between a tan skinned guy with a blue shirt and a yellow pony girl with a pink mane and a green jacket, but she was tapping at her phone screen aimlessly, paying no attention to anything else.
I bite my lip and take a seat, adjusting my stuff and folding my hands together in patience. All of a sudden, a tall, bald man with a black beard and brown clothes entered the classroom, eyeing me, "So, Paul, he must be Lachlan."
The man who showed me to my seat nodded, "Indeed he is Notch."
"Still surprised you haven't been to an actual school before. . ." Notch muttered. "Or are they just rumors?"
"They're not rumors, Notch sir." I replied politely, avoiding eye contact with him.
"Ok then, CLASS!" He exclaimed, making everyone in the class jump, but they immediately looked at him in annoyance. "As you know, we have a new student. Please welcome Lachlan from Australia."
"Welcome!" The man Paul greeted, but he greeted towards a Koala student, whom looked at him in surprise.
"I'm from Canada. . ." The Koala sighed, as a few people around him snickered.
"Oh. . . Uh, I knew that." Paul replied awkwardly as he scratched the back of his neck.
The students then turned to look at me, making me blush softly. "Hi, I'm Lachlan. . ." I introduced myself briefly as I looked around awkwardly.
