I re-open my eyes and gasp at the scenery in front of me. I had to admit, for a Hunger Games map in a school building, it was absolutely gorgeous. The lights were dimmed, trees were scattered around the wide open cornucopia, and there were twenty four tributes separated perfectly alongside each other as they all stared at all the weapons in the cornucopia. I gulped and looked at the clock, which was counting down from ten seconds already. My opponents stared at nothing, and they were all as tense as a guard dog. I couldn't believe how serious they took this, but I couldn't judge. Maybe in the near future I'll be like them too.

It was until then that the glass walls surrounding everyone went down, and in a mere second, everyone ran towards the middle, while being me, I just stood there for a few seconds, and I shook my head in realization and ran towards the middle, until I literally halted once I spotted a girl shorter than me, with purple colored hair, running at me with a sword in hand. In this mere moment of surprise, I knew, that I had fucked up. My only instinct, was to. . .

"RUN!" I exclaimed to myself as I managed to dodge the girl and ran around the cornucopia in a circle.

After a few minutes, her tired self (surprisingly, I wasn't even tired yet) stared at me in confusion as I ran around in a circle, screaming at the top of my lungs. She just blinked, "Um, what the hell are you-"

I then heard her grunt, and pixelated sounds came from her instead, along with a canon, which made me freeze. I turned around on my heels, and I came face-to-face to a lava creeper student with a suit, his orange pupils staring into my blue one's, "Hey there sunshine." He smirked, raising his stone sword menacingly.

"AAHHHHHH." I responded as I turned around, running back. Well, that is, until I tripped on a twig and faceplanted into the grass. ". . . Ow. . ."

The lava mob just stared at me, obviously holding back his laughter, "Um, are you, ok?"

I squirmed on the ground, and sighed, "Just, kill me and end the torment already. . ."

The lava creeper rolled his eyes and smirked down at me, holding out his hand, "Preston."

"What?" I asked, confused.

"I was introducing myself, idiot."

"Oh. . ." I muttered in embarrassment, blushing slightly, "I'm Lachlan."

"I know, everybody should know who you are by now." Preston said as he looked around cautiously.

"So uh, why'd you spare me?" I asked curiously. I thought that by now, somebody like him would have killed me already. Guess not.

"I felt bad for you." Preston shrugged as he looked at me, "I normally wouldn't do this, but, you look cool."

"Oh. Um, thanks. I guess." I thanked him awkwardly.

"You don't have to thank me, now come on, consider us and anybody I made a truce with, an ally." He said as he walked towards the forest, with me trailing after him.

"Uh, you have more allies?" I asked nervously. "If so, what if they don't accept me?"

"Why wouldn't they?" Preston asked curiously.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because I'm new? Oh! And may I add that I'll probably be a huge burden and I'll hold everyone back?" I explained as I chewed my lip.

"I'm sure that you'll be fine, and you don't have to do the attacking, you can just do the baiting instead." Preston smirked.

"Oh, haha. . ." I laughed nervously, but then I realized that what he said was not a joke, "Wait, you aren't joking, are you?"
