Identity Crisis (A Miraculous Ladybug and Chat Noir Fanfic)

Chapter 4: Adrien's POV

I slowly open my eyes to be met with those shining blue beauties of Marrinete's.
"Marrinete? It's you? You're the one I've been in love with this whole time?" I ask.
Her face goes fire engine red and for a minute I thought she was gonna punch me. But she doesn't, it wasn't an angry red, it was an embarrassed red. She drops to the ground and covers her face.
"Wait a minute...you love me too..I..stand up." I say, lending my hand to her.
She looks up shyly and then gently takes my hand. I help her up and our eyes meet once more. My heart pounded so hard I thought it was gonna come out of my chest. All this time she loved me off mask, and I was oblivous and I loved her with the mask and she dodged all my flirtious comments because she loved me. I couldn't be happier in this moment.
"A-Adrien?" She says.
"Yes?"
"I...What now?"
"Now we keep each other identities a secret. And now...I...Marrinete, I love you, I can't believe I never realized it was you...I.." I trail off.
"I l-love you moon...I m-mean too.."
I swallow, take a deep breath and then slowly move closer to her. She doesn't move, almost as if she's stunned. I then close the gap between her lips and mine. I kiss her gently and then break it.
"Adrien..."
"Y-Yes?"
"This has to be...a dream right?"
"It's not.."
"Then I should warn you..."
"What is it?"
"I'm gonna pass out now."
She then faints in my arms. I mean I don't blame her, I'm doing everything I can not to faint either. I gently lay her down and then call Plagg out.
"Plagg, claws out."
I transform and then gently pick her pick up again. I take her back home and lat her in her bed. I cover her up and kiss her on her forehead. She'll probably think tonight was all a dream..maybe it's best if I let her think that. No, I love her and I have her, why should I let her go? I have no one I can confide in that will understand. Maybe if I talked to Aliyah, she's good at secrets and probably knows Marrinete is Ladybug. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. But maybe I should talk to Master Fu instead. I sigh and in the end chose Master Fu. I drop in to be met with him making tea.
"I knew you'd be coming. But I expect Marrinete to be bringing the pact."
"Pact?"
"You didn't...oh..."
"No Master, I know who she is. And she knows me. I kinda forced it on her. She fainted and probably thinks it's all a dream now, but I don't want that. What should I do?"
"I see...well...if it we're me...I'd listen to my heart, not my head or emotions but my heart. What do you think is truly right."
"Thank you Master...I guess."
I then say goodbye and head back home. I lay back on my couch and look out the window.
"What's on your mind?" Asks Plagg.
"Wondering what's right.."
I think about it all night, barley got any sleep thanks to it. In the end, I knew what was right. To tell her, why let her think it was a dream, then I'd have to lie to her and I can't do that. The next day I got to school early and waited for Marrinete to arrive. I sat on the steps outside when I finally saw her running down the street. I stand up quickly and head down the stairs to meet her. She ends up tripping into me however and I go pink. She looks up at me and then stands up quickly.
"S-Sorry Adrien!"
"You're fine. You okay? You seem more nervous than usual around me today. Something happen last night?"
"So it was a dream..."
"What was a dream?"
"Oh nothing." She smiles.
"Marrinete, I don't know what you dreamt about but please tell me you don't think last night was a dream?"
"Huh? L-Last night?"
"I thought about it all night and I didn't want to lie to you letting you think it was a dream."
"A-Adrien...you...wait a minute...AAAAHHH!"
"Why are you screaming?!" I ask.
She makes me feel like I screwed up big time.
"I...we...you... kiss?!"
"Heh, yeah." I smile nervously.
She almost passed out again but I quickly called Aliyah over who had come outside to, I assume investigate the yelling.
"Girl what's wrong?!" She asks.
"I...Adrien...he...we..I.." She stumbles.
Aliyah looks harshly at me.
"What did you do to her?"
"Nothing! All I did was..." I go bright red.
"Spit it out rich boy."
"I kissed her!"
Aliyah goes silent and then looks at Marrinete and suddenly she's screaming too.
"I'm just gonna go inside now." I say.
I then quickly slip inside and head to class. I sit down next to Nino.
"Do you know where Aliyah went?"
"Yeah, she's outside screaming with Marrinete." I respond.
"Why?" He asks.
"Marrinete finally told me how she felt."
"Really? And?"
"Well...I wish she told me sooner. And I wish she would've warned me that she'd scream when I accepted."
"You accepted her feelings?!"
"Yes?"
"Awesome! Finally dude, Aliyah and I have been trying to get you two together for months!"
Nino punches me in the arm. I smile shyly and punch him lightly back. After a few minutes Aliyah and Marrinete come into the classroom and find their seats. Come lunch break Nino and I try and find them.
"Where are they?" He asks.
"Who knows. We've looked everywhere." I say.
"Hey boys! Over here!" Yells Aliyah.
We then turn and see them sitting on a bench together. We smile and walk over to them.
"Hey Nino, let's go have lunch together, like a couple."
"Okay, see you dude."
I nod Nino and Aliyah off. I then look back at Marrinete who is looking at the floor.
"Marrinete?" I ask.
"Adrien I..." She takes a deep breath and stands up, "..will you go out with me?" She asks, holding her breath.
I get taken back at first, but then smile and gently take her hand.
"I'd love to Marrinete." I smile.
She looks up at me and our eyes meet.
"Adrikins!" Yells Chloe as she jumps on me.
"Chloe!" I say, pushing her off.
"What's wrong? You okay? Ugh, Marrinete, what are you doing here?"
"Same reason why you're here. To get an education. Now if you'll excuse us Chloe we were about to have lunch."
"You? Have lunch with..her? Why?"
I look at Marrinete who's looking away from us and to the ground. I take a deep breath and stare Chloe right in her eyes.
"Because, she's my girlfriend Chloe."
"You're what?!" Chloe yells.
"Huh?" Marrinete says, looking up.
"You heard me, now excuse us."
I then take Marrinete's hand and walk her over into the locker area. I sit down on the bench in there next to her. I stare at the ground.
"Ignore her." I say.
"I...thank you." She says.
I look over at her, meeting my eyes with her mysterious ones.
"You're welcome." I smile softly.
That's when suddenly Chloe comes bursting through the doors and she's been Akumatized again! I grab Marrinete's hand and run into the next room, locking the door behind us. I turn to Marrinete.
"We don't have much time! Plagg, claws out!"
Plagg goes into my ring, and as he does I hear Marrinete call hers.
"Tikki, spots on!"
She trusts me, she...I'm so happy. We transform and then jump out the window and round to the roof, dropping in that way.
"Didn't we already defeat the Queen My Lady?" I ask.
"You're right Kitty. As helpful as she is she's really just a villain!"
"Woah there Ladybug, ain't that a little harsh?"
"Heh, sorry." She smiles nervously.
I know her and Chloe didn't get along but I didn't realize it was that bad. No wonder she looked away.
"Hey! Why don't you focus on us? Besides, what's got you so upset?" I ask.
"That stupid girl stole my Adrikins!"
"Just because somebody doesn't reciprocate the same feelings as you, doesn't mean you have to get all upset!" I tell her.
"Huh? Oh, what do you know!"
"I know a lot. How do you think I feel? My lady's heart belongs to someone else. But yet I survive knowing that, why don't you?"
"Ladybug...doesn't love you back? Then that means!"
Chloe then tackles me. Not what I expected but I was able to get close enough to rip her bracelet off and throw it to ladybug.
"Hey no fair!" Chloe yells.
"No more evil doing for you little Akuma, time to de-evilize!"
Ladybug then does her thing and everything goes back to normal.
"Fine, she can have Adrien. I've got my eyes on a certain Kitty Cat now."
"Great." I say, heading onto the roof and back into the room again.
"Nice thinking with Chloe."
"Thanks. You were pretty good yourself." I smile.
"But I barley did anything."
"No, you did a lot. If you noticed Chloe was watching you for a reaction, waiting to see if I was wrong. You kept a cover, and a good one. I see why you were chosen to be Ladybug, My Lady." I smirk.
"Oh whatever Kitty." She smiles.
I then move closer to her, and her eyes widen slightly. I then sigh and turn away from her.
"Just let me know when you ready My Lady. Claws off."
Plagg zips out from my ring.
"I could really use some cheese right about now." Plagg says.
"Don't you think about anything else?" I chuckle.
That's when a gentle hand is placed on my shoulder. I turn to be met with a mask still. She then smile softly at me, I can't help but smile back.
"Adrien, I'm a superhero if word got out that I liked you...I don't know what I'd do."
"Huh?"
"But yet again...there are no camera's back here so.."
She then leans in and kisses me gently. I kiss her back and Tikki deactivates leaving us together...without our masks. After a few moments we break and look into each other's eyes.
"Thank you Marrinete."
"For what?"
"Don't worry about it. Come on, lunch is probably almost over if not already." I smile.
She nods and we head back to class together. God I'm so lucky.
