Maddi's POV:
I quickly fell asleep in Brice's arms. I woke up at the Compound Institute, the reason for all this shit. At age 15, you go to the Institute, and learn to fight, to lead, or to heal. I'm a healer, Brice is a fighter, and Nic is a leader.
"Hey! Maddi!" Brice shouted. I walked through the crowded hallway, shoving people out of the way.
"What's up?"
"Ok. Meet me in the weapons closet 3rd period. The empty one."
"Ok... Why?"
"Tell you when you get there." Medical Techniques dragged on forEVER, and indoor track went quickish. 3rd period, free period. I walked to the rarely used weapons closet, and met Brice, Grant, Drew, and Ethan, sitting on folded up training mats.
"Took you long enough."
"The healing coach needed me for a thing." I sat between Ethan and Brice. "What's up?"
"Ok, so you know how the Compound took over after the war?"
"Yeah."
"And we've been being trained as soldiers? In case there's another war? Against the Compound?"
"Yeah..."
"And how, since that started, people have been disappearing? And we never see them?"
"Yeah..."
"I know where they're going." Brice crossed his arms smugly.
"And where is that?" Ethan asked.
"They have them all in an underground room. They train them to kill us all."
For weeks we met in the room, once a day for an hour. The day before, this followed.
"Are you ready?" Brice asked.
"Can we go over the plan?"
"Well, were going to bust the school out of this death trap."
"The PLAN."
"Fine. Maddi, since you're such a kiss-up, you're going to lure the headmaster out of his office. Grant and I will guard the door, and Drew will work the computer. Ethan, you're going to make the announcement. Everyone ready? Go!" I ran to the headmaster's office.
"Headmaster! There are two boys fighting on the 10th floor!"
"Oh my! I'll call someone to-"
"No! Sir! They have knives! We have to hurry! Please sir!" He jumped up.
"Alright. Lead the way." I began running, knowing he could keep up with me. He was 40-something, but he was fit and strong. When we got on the elevator, it stopped on the eighth floor. It opened. He stepped out. "Where are the boys?"
"Oh. They don't exist. Bye!" the door shut as he ran towards me.
"GOOOOODDDD MORNING MEMBERS OF THE INSTITUTE! IF YOU COULD TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO THE TV SCREENS, WE HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU!" I turned my eyes to the screen above the panel in the elevator. A picture of the school plans popped up.
"Anyone noticed how people have been disappearing lately? As in for the last 3 years? Well, they keep them all in this basement, and train them against us! In'st that great?! See, incase we ever rebell, they're here to stop, control, and kill us! It's called the SCK Program!" Drew brought up the SCK Program symbol. "See! See! Anyways, if you could all - and this is an order - calmly grab your weapons, and avoid ANYONE you haven't seen lately. Now, RUN!!!!!" I pulled a knife. The blade glinted green. "GRAB YOUR STUFF! EVACUATE! ASSEMBLE A GROUP! GO! RUN!" Brice grabbed my arm.
"Cmon!" the others were behind him.
"Where's Ethan?"
"He said hes staying for Anna. Let's move!" I opened my eyes. It was still nighttime, and i was still in my sleeping bag. Brice hugged me tighter to him, and I fell into a dreamless sleep.
