____________________Dean nearly sprinted to the Astronomy tower as soon as dinner in the Great Hall had come to a close.
He was nervous, excited, and nearly everything in between. But he also was rather confused.
Dean hadn't told anyone about the immaculate kiss he had shared with Seamus.
Seamus had acted as if it had never happened, but kept a cold demeanor in place whenever Dean attempted to approach the small brunette.
It was confusing beyond description.
But that was why he was meeting Seamus, Dean thought as he climbed the long stair case to the high tower, to clear his confusions a bit.
Struggling to keep his expression blank, Dean stalked slowly into the clearing of the Astronomy classroom.
A sigh nearly escaped him as Seamus turned.
Though he bathed in moonlight, Seamus seemed to wither under Dean's gaze. His sapphire orbs displayed the most excruciating pain, the most gruesome conflict. His normally pale complexion was replaced with a marble glow under the moonlight. Amber locks tickled his furrowed eyebrows as the breeze ran stronger at the high altitude.
Dean swallowed the growing lump in his throat and cautiously stepped forward.
"We need to talk."
"We're here aren't we?, Seamus released a harsh laugh and continued. "Speak."
Dean subconsciously licked his lips, trying to formulate a logical question, sentence, anything. He stood there like this, shaking his head all the while.
Seamus finally broke the silence.
"Please just ask me something, he cried out despair apparent in his tone,"ask me anything you ought to know. I have so much I've been wanting to tell you."
Finally the whirlwind of words ceased and Dean formed a stable question.
"Why did you run?, He said, "when you saw me and Ginny. Why didn't you tell me you saw?"
Seamus let out a heart wrenching sob. His frail frame shook violently. Dean couldn't bear to watch this. He wanted so desperately to reach out to him, hold him, tell him everything was okay. But Dean was frozen. He couldn't move if he wanted to, so he watched and waited until the sobs quieted and the broken boy before him answered.
"Because I couldn't watch you shag her," Seamus addressed Ginny with so much venom, Dean had to remind himself that this was his best mate.
"And, Seamus continued crossing his arms protectively around him, "I couldn't look you in the eyes and tell you why it bothered me so much to see you like that."
Like what? Dean's mind inquired.
But he needn't ask out loud."Like that moment was what you've been waiting for your whole life, like I would only ever be me, like she was the only thing, only one that mattered. I couldn't face the truth."
"What truth?" Dean asked before he could stop himself.
Seamus looked at him straight in his amber eyes.
"That you could never love me the way I love you."
Dean could only gawk at the boy in front of him. That was, until he lounged to catch Seamus as he collasped.
Dean pulled a writhing Seamus into his arms, squeezing him against his chest firmly.
After a moment or two, Seamus ceased his struggles.
"Dean..."
Dean locked eyes with the fragile boy in his arms.
"I think..I think I'm...."
Seamus swallowed.
"Gay."
"Good, Dean smiled warmly at Seamus, "cause I think I'm falling in love with you Sea."
Without a moment's hesitation, Dean was the one to initiate the kiss.
And they stayed in that embrace until it became too cold to remain in the open tower, which they would always remember was the place they shared their real first kiss as more than best mates.
