My name is Hannah Michelle. I'm your typical teenager. I have a best friend, a crush, parents, and frenemys. If you really want to learn about me, I'm an open book. At least, thats what my best friend, Gia, calls me. Especially when Avery walks by. She says my eyes are the window to my soul. But it's true, in a way, I don't know why, but I am in love with him. Although he doesn't even notice me. He says hi, and bye, but thats because he's polite. One year we had math together, I don't even remember that class, except looking at the back of his head. Gia's a year younger than us so I only see her lunch, so lets just say... we have fun. We had the best of times, even when I wanted to strangle her. She knew everything about me, and ditto. Do you want backstory? Okay, my first day of 1st grade, a kindergartener walked up to me and declared our friendship. Talk about first impressions. She's cool though, and ever since, we've been like glue. We're both weird, in a good way. It's always been one of those, we know we're friends so we don't have to act cliche, kinda things. We do our own thing and we're happy. You always dream of finding that one friend you know you will always be friends with, and I have found that friend. On my first year of middle school, a new boy came into my homeroom. He was lanky, but in a cute way. It was my time that I swore off boys, but once I actually talked to him (about once) I was hooked. Not literally. I was not hooked onto him with a fishing hook (although I wish I was). We were those friends that were friends without being friends.
That brings us to my 11th grade year and Gia's 10th. It was the first day today, and I told myself things would change. I would own up to my feelings and talk to Avery. I shouldn't be that hard, right?
Wrong. All of that brings us to today. 4 weeks into the school year and Avery doesn't even know I exist.
"Take your seat class." Our substitute teacher said from from the front door she was holding open. I sat in my usual seat, next to Avery, and pulled out my supplies. I glanced over at him, he was his usual self, he was laughing about something with Austen. I smiled at Austen and went to grab my planner.Austen was my friend, as well as Avery's. He gave me an encouraging look, he knew of my secret love also. I lowered my head bashfully. The teacher walked into the room and slammed her papers on the desk.
"PLANNERS!" She shouted as she walked around. Everyone hastily pulled out their planners. Austen poked me and smiled.
"Where are her shoes?" He whispered. I smiled and shrugged. He smiled and went back to work, or drawing, god knows he doesn't work. Hannah laughed a little as she wrote her agenda.
