37•Mother-in-law

Hey, mum

"What?" Taehyung asks, perplexed at the sudden break down of yours. Your hand grips against his shirt and sob against his chest.

"Tae- Dad-" You break down again.

As you couldn't utter a word without your throat cutting each word, he decided to calm you down first as it was breaking him to see you like this. "Y/n, sh.. calm down." He massages over your head, lovingly hugging you and allowing you to cry more.

After pulling out slightly, he cups your cheeks. "What happened? Tell me,"

"Tae...I just- I just saw my dad."

It took him a fair amount of seconds to process what you just said. His mouth gapes at the news. He immediately embraces you again and whispers some comforting words. "Oh my God Y/n. Oh my God. Are you okay? I mean, of course, you are not!" He blabbers before composing himself.

He remembers all the time you spoke about your father. Only thing he was sure was that if you suffered all your lifetime, then it was because of your dad. If he didn't do what he did to your family, you would have never been in adoption with your aunt and neither they would have kicked you out when you most needed a family to guide you. If you are currently having trust issues and fear of getting to know new people, then it was definitely because of your dad to some extent.

He knew how much you run from the topic of your family. Whenever someone asked about your parents, you always tried your best to avoid the topic. Taehyung is the only person who knew everything about your past. And he knows how shaken you are by the arrival of your dad all of a sudden.

"Tae- w-what am I suppose to do?! I-I can't see him. I don't want to see him-" your hand trembles when you shake your head in denial. Your panic was getting worse, and Taehyung wanted to calm you down from every inch of his being.

"It's okay. You won't see him... hm? I will make sure you don't. Let's just go from here." He clutches your palm, and firmly guide you somewhere. You sniffle as you move your feet with Taehyung.

When you were walking fast to the unknown destination that he is planning to take you, a loud, chirped voice interrupts you. "Hey Y/n!" Momo calls.

You quickly wipe down the tears. Taehyung lets go off your hand at the arrival of your colleague. "Hey, Taehyung!" Momo smiles brightly. "Y/n, I was looking for you! I was wondering if you could help me-"

"She can't." Taehyung interrupts. "Momo can you look for someone else if it's not important?" He keeps his politeness.

Momo, being surprised at his interference decides to question. "Erm, N-no... she wasn't in the meeting today so I was just planning to inform her about what we discussed." She excuses, chuckling nervously.

"Really?" He cocks a brow. Checking his wrist-watch; "it's almost midnight. Momo, please go see Namjoon if you still wish to work, but we all want to rest now. And if you see Y/n's state, she is the one who needs the most rest right now. So, if you need help, go ask someone else."

"Y-Yes, sir." Momo bows.

You, not knowing what to say in this situation, remain quiet since you don't wish to help Momo either, at least not right now. Taehyung returns his hold against your palm, this time not even caring if Momo is witnessing. He dismisses Momo and walks away with you.

"Y/n, where did you see him?" Taehyung asks, voice deep and serious. Your lips tremble once again at the mention of your dad. The face still flashes before your eyes.

"He was with Namjoon."

He stops his walk momentarily. "What?" He asks. He now thinks back to the possibilities and only reasonable answer that might satisfy his question is; the person Namjoon said he was going to meet tonight for dinner. Mr Yang, the business partner they are signing a contract with, to save the company in Malta. He facepalms himself before exhaling deeply. If that's the case, then Taehyung knows you will be meeting him more than you think you are.
