It was her 12th birthday. It had been a great day. Victoria Red had been at her grandmothers home, dropping off her breakfast. Her grandmother had given her a beautiful red cloak with a hood. It seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. It was the greatest gift she had ever gotten. As she skipped home in her new cloak, she noticed an unusual shadow-like thing zip across the trees. It might've been her imagination, but she thought it looked like a wolf.

She came home to a crime scene. There was yellow tape surrounding the small log house. She ran inside screaming. "MOM?" No answer. "DAD?" No answer. She ran into her room.

The room was demolished. Her curtains were ripped to shreds. Everything was broken. On her bed was a small post-it note. It read: Granny's house, be there now. She ran to the door and hopped on her bike, tears streaming down her face.

She threw the bike down when she got to the house. She ran up the porch steps and ran into her grandmother's bedroom. The only person there was a tall man. She looked closer and saw that it wasn't a man, it was a wolf.

It was nearly 7 feet tall with huge muscles and dark, matted fur. It had red eyes, filled with murderous rage. It roared and slowly walked towards her. She could only stand there, paralyzed with fear, as Death came closer and closer. Suddenly, the Wolf shuddered. It collapsed, and the Wolf disappeared. A scrawny man took his place. A familiar smoky, shadow-like thing rose from the man. It looked like a wolf. Then it flew away with the wind. She heard a whisper by her ear. "Until next time Victoria. "

At that moment, she dropped the name Victoria. She would only be called by Red. If she were to be called Victoria, it would haunt her, reminding her of that horrible day. She clutched her red cloak, and briskly walked away from the house. The Wolf had stopped. What made it let her go? These thoughts kept running through her head as she ran with no destination.

This was 5 years ago. The horrible whispers still haunt her, reminding Red that she would once again have to face the Wolf, who she now knows as Lupan.
