Prologue
The first day of high school.
Usually, when people are going to start high school, they experience all kinds of horrible emotions. Nervousness, worry, and uneasiness. They are afraid and anxious.
But not Arabella, no, not at all.
Arabella was not nervous or afraid because she was going to her first year of high school with her three best friends. They've been to the same school since they were in pre-k and they had been inseparable ever since. But her friends weren't the only reason Arabella wasn't nervous or scared. She was naturally social and confident it was unbelievable. She could literally become friends with the cashier while paying for her groceries. That's how friendly she was.
And then there was Luke.
Luke was scared to death. He was new to the city so he didn't know anyone. Not one person at all. And to top it off, he was the most unsocial and reserved person ever. He hated the fact that his parents had to move so much because of their job. He was now going to be the outcast of Coronado High and he was not ready for it.
-
"No! Mom, please don't come with me it'll be fine!" Luke begged his mother as they were arriving at the school and she was looking for a parking spot.
"Are you sure? I already made you late and I know that you're nervous an-"
"Mum seriously. Just drop me off at the front and if I need anything I'll text or call you."
"Fine." Liz sighed stopping the car in front of the school.
"Thanks mum bye!"
Luke rushed out of the car and walked up the steps leading to the entrance of the school. By know he was pretty sure that the butterflies he felt in his stomach were going to rip through by how nervous he was feeling. He stopped in front of the door, reaching for the handle, and took a deep breath. Lets get this over with he thought, opening the door.
Luke already had his schedule from when his dad came and registered him. (His dad had come first to get the house settled; Luke had barely arrived two days before the first day of school.) So, he decided to just go to his first class, English I, even though he didn't have a clue to where to go. He walked by the front office until a lady called him.
"Young man! Where do you think you are going?"
"I- uh-" Luke turned around.
"You are 20 minutes late." She said walking towards him. "Let me see your schedule. You're a freshman?"
"Yes ma'am." he said quietly while handing her his schedule. "This is actually my third day in the city so I didn't really know."
"Oh ok then. My name is Mrs. Morales and I am the principle here. I can give you a map to the school if you are lost and also every time you are late, which I hope this will be a one time thing, you need to go to the office and get a note. So here, follow me."
He trailed behind her and waited until she gave him the note and the map. She also explained the map more or less so he had an idea of where his classes were.
Luke arrived outside his English classroom, and once again he was pretty sure the butterflies were going to rip through his stomach. He took another deep breath and opened the door.
" I will not tolerate tardine-"
The teacher stopped talking and looked towards the door where Luke was standing with his cheeks flushed.
