Over the years Anna and Raven Fang traveled the Bird Roads making a name for themselves as the Anti Traction League's most feared agents. They had prices on their heads on all major traction cities. Raven would often joke that League' s most feared agents were worth more than the "meager prices". Now the two sisters were on their way to Airhaven to confer with their close friends Captain Khora and Yasmina Rasheed. It was nearing sunset and the Jenny was running low on fuel. Raven was dozing in the co-pilots seat and Anna was humming to herself while her slender fingers expertly maneuvered over the complex controls.

It was nearing dusk, and the Jenny Haniver  was gliding through the clouds over the Great Hunting Ground. The young aviatrix Anna Fang was sitting in the pilot's seat while her sister Raven dozed in the seat next to her.

"Moony! Moony wake up!" Anna called, lightly smacking her sister on the arm. "WAZA!" "Huh what? I'm sorry what did you say Windy?"

Anna chuckled quietly. Anna always called Raven Moony and Raven always called Anna Windy because their nickname in Shan Guo were the Windflower and Moonflower. They loved their nicknames at the Wall and they loved their pet names for each other. Everyone in the League knew about the Fang sisters and their unique relationship.

"Raven the Jenny  needs more fuel and the closest air harbor is on a traction suburb called Stayns. Should we stop there or continue to Airhaven and pray to all the Gods we can think of that we have enough fuel?" This time it was Raven's turn to laugh at Anna's little joke. "Well I think we shouldn't risk it. Remember what happened last time we didn't stop for fuel?" The younger aviatrix teased. "Gods that was a nightmare!" "We crashed down in the middle of the African desert, and if Khora hadn't been on his way to Shan Guo from visiting the Ngoni family  in Zagwa we would probably be completely buried in sand right now."

"So lets stop!" Raven insisted, "And maybe while we're there we can get some more info on Valentine and London."

"You're right, we'll be at Stayns in about 10 minutes."

"Aren't I always right?" Raven quipped and the girls laughed as they picked up on Stayns' homing beacon.

Anna set the Jenny down on Stayns. It was late by then, but the aviator's café near the docking pans was still open. A canvas awning sullenly flapped its gaudy stripes in the light of some hurricane lamps. An old man snored in a chair. Two merchants were discussing the next day's slave auction, but they went quiet when the sisters arrived, and left soon afterward. Perhaps they knew who they were. Perhaps they had heard how they felt about slave traders. The girls went to the bar, sat down on twin wooden stools there, and bought drinks, courtesy of Raven. The barman combed his drooping moustache while Anna asked him if he had any news of London, but he could tell them no more than they already knew.

"Come on Windy he can't tell us nothing!" Raven sighed, frustrated. "You're right let's go." They were getting ready to go in search of someone else to ask when the children arrived. Not really children, for they weren't much younger than the sisters themselves, but they looked like children to Anna and Raven Fang. They were about the age Anna had been when she escaped Arkangel. The girl was half-feral, an out-country scarecrow with filthy red- auburn hair, her face ruined by a deep, ragged old scar that had healed so badly it hurt to look at it. She was trying to act as if she belonged in this place and knew where she was going, but she had a wound on one leg and she couldn't hide her fear or her weariness. The boy wasn't even trying. He caught Anna and Raven watching him as he went to the bar and looked nervously away. "Come now!" she hissed to her sister, "Its no business of ours" "Whatever their story is,  whoever their running from, we don't need to get involved." But when she looked over she saw Raven checking the pistol hidden in her boot-top, and she found herself  checking the Nuevo Mayan Battle Frisbee folded in its secret pocket on her sleeve.

"I'm looking for a ship," the boy said. "My friend and I have to get back to London and we have to leave tonight." She heard Raven whisper from her left. "Come on! This has to settle this: he's from London and, judging by his accent, from the upper tiers! We can help him and his friend and perhaps learn something of the city's plans into the bargain!"

The boy did not hear as the Fang sisters as they slid from their stools, abandoning their drinks, and padded silently up behind him, but the girl, sharper, turned her ruined face and stared.

Anna and Raven said in unison, "Perhaps we may be of help?"

The two kids had run off towards the docking pans leaving the Fangs to deal with the Wreylands their own way. Raven grinned as she clubbed the man called Fred over the head with the butt of her pistol while Anna kicked one of the men right where it hurts. Finally after a good ten or twenty minutes of fighting, all the men lay either dead or unconscious on the floor.

"Stay here, I'm going to go and find them, the girl was injured they couldn't have gone far." Anna yelled over her shoulder as she raced off in the direction the boy and girl had gone.

(anothertimeskipbecauseimlazyyyyyyyy)

They were all standing inside the Jenny. "Well Mr. Nitsworthy," Anna said, "my name is Fang, Anna Fang my sister and I can take you and your girlfriend," she wiggled her eyebrows in Raven's direction at the way the red headed girl bristled at the comment,"to Airhaven where maybe we can find a trader to take you home."

"Thank you so much!" they boy exclaimed, " and they got my name wrong, its Natsworthy, Tom Natsworthy."

"Nice to meet you Tom, I'm Raven Fang."

"Hester Shaw," the girl said, voice barely above a whisper, clearly mistrustful of the Easterner aviatrices. Raven automatically knew she was going to like this Hester Shaw.

"You're injured." Raven said plainly and lead the girl to the med bay, leaving Anna to have her fun grilling Tom about London.
