KIM TAEHYUNG

I sit on the couch, staring out the window as I wait for Mr. Soong to return from talking to one of his business associates.

"I'm back," he sighs, an apologetic smile on his face.

I smile back, adjusting my tie.

"Where were we?" He asks while sitting down in his chair behind his desk, shuffling around a pile of papers.

I clear my throat. "We were just talking about your daughter, sir."

He nods. "Right, of course. We're planning to host the wedding ceremony in a few days. You'll be my son-in-law and soon, my company will become yours."

I smile. "That sounds like a plan. But, who's the woman that I'll be marrying?"

Before he could respond, a girl with ripped jeans, a black varsity jacket, and white sneakers bursted into the room.

"Hey, mama, don't stress your mind! We're coming home tonight! Hey, mama, we're gonna be alright, dry those eyes," she sang, her music blasting from her headphones.

Mr. Soong clears his throat, his ears turning red. "Mae Soong..."

She continues to sing, dancing around the room without a care in the world.

"Mae Soong!" He yells, immediately gaining her attention.

She pauses her music and takes her earbuds out of her ears, putting them in her pocket.

"What's up, Dad?" She says while blowing a bubble with the pink bubblegum she has in her mouth.

"Sit," he says in an annoyed manner.

Immediately, she sits down in the chair next to me, my eyes never stop examining every feature about her.

"Uhm, Father, can you tell this geezer to stop staring me down? It's making me uncomfortable," she scoffs.

I tug at the collar of my shirt, embarrassed.

"Do you know why I asked for you to be here, Mae Soong?" Mr. Soong asks, leaning forward to narrow his eyes at her.

She shrugs. "Am I in trouble? It was all Amber's fault. She told me to take your credit card!"

He sputters. "You did what?! We will talk about that later. But what I called you in here for is to tell you that you will be marrying Taehyung."

"Taehyung?" She says once more, wanting clarification.

He points to me and I say a slight hello.

"Him?!" She yells.
