The ball day

Jungkook

I couldn't focus at all.

It was a busy day, all student council members had authorized leave from their designated classes so that they could focus on the ball arrangements. I was going back and forth, from the gym to the classes and stores. But still, all my head could think about was what Taehyung had said a few days before. We didn't talk throughout the weekend, he tried on Monday, but I was so busy with the preparations I couldn't stop to talk to him. It was almost time for the ball, and I was at my dad's bakery making the last desert's there were still missing.

- Jungkookie! I finally found you. - he said making the bell by the door cling.

I smiled sheepishly at him:

- Is something wrong hyung?

- No, I just need to talk to you, remember when you told me to talk to Minjae?

I nodded:

- I did, and you were right, he did like me, I told him to apologize to you by the way. - he said smiling. - But he told me something that surprised me a little.

I furrowed my brows and looked at him with interest, he was smiling:

- He said you were the one to gi... - before he could finish Yoona entered the bakery through the back door.

- What are you doing here Taehyungie, you should be helping the staff at the gym to set up the decorations. - she said nervously. - And you, go back to work, now!

I shivered and nodded:

- S-sorry hyung, I'll talk to you at the ball.

- That won't be possible since he'll be with me. ALL night. - she said angrily.

I sighed, Taehyung was about to leave when he turned and winked at me making me blush. I giggled and went back to finishing my deserts.

- Jungkook. - I turned to her - If you ever think you have a chance with him, forget it.

She left, I rolled my eyes at her, is just so tiring to deal with her. The last tray of cupcakes was finally out of the oven, I quickly picked it up and started decorating it. Now all there's left to make is strawberry shortcakes. Taehyung's request. I giggled picking up the ingredients, this was my last attempt in making him fall for me, if he chooses Yoona over me after that, I'll just accept it.

The bell at the door rang, announcing someone was at the door, my father enters the bakery comes to me:

- Jungkook? - he asks.

- Yes?

- Is this it then? The treat your friend told me about?

- What? Why did Jimin tell you about this? Oh my god, I'm going to murder him!

He chuckled:

- Don't worry son, I just want to tell you that you don't need a stupid treat to make him fall for you, you're already good enough. Good luck today okay? Now go, dress up, I'll finish it for you. - he said with his kindest smile.

I nodded and hugged him tightly:

- I love you appa. Like a lot. - I said and went up the stairs.

- So, did you decide? - Jimin asked.

- No, I just can't! - I said sighing in defeat and plopping down on my bed.

My pink-haired friend comes out of the closet wearing black trousers and a tucked in white shirt:

- Do you think I should put chains here? - he said pointing at his pockets

- Yeah, it'll look nice on you. - I said pouting.

- Stop! Come here, I'll dress you up. - he went back in the closet and picked a few items.

I tried a bunch of things until he was finally satisfied, he decided on a black shirt, with black trousers. I folded the sleeves a bit so it wouldn't get dirty while I'm serving.

- Now the grand finale. - he unbuttoned the top three buttons.

I looked at him surprised:

- Three?

- You're trying to seduce someone, forgot? - he winked at me.

We carefully carried all the food to the school, the night was really pretty, we could clearly see the stars. Kihyun was arranging the stands, I started helping him while Jimin went to find his pair:

- Do you have a pair Jungkookie? - he asked.

- I do, but I'll take the first turn in the stand Kihyun, I'm saving the last dance for a special someone.

- Ooh, okay! - he said smiling - I'll go then, I need to start taking the couple's pictures.

The table looked really pretty, the students came and took what they want, I helped them minimally, Hoseok took a while to arrive, he didn't want to dance, so he helped me. I never thought he could be nice, I thought he was cocky due to his popularity. About 20 minutes before midnight a shy boy came closer to us:

- Hobi, I'm sorry, please stop this, can we dance now? - the boy asked uncomfortably.

My date giggled and embraced the boy making me smile fondly, they were pretty cute together, I wish I could be like that:

- Thanks for helping me Jungkookie, I wish you luck! - he winked at me.

Kihyun appeared freeing me from the food stand, I sighed walking around, still, no sign of Taehyung, did he give up on inviting me to dance? Jimin was dancing with Yoongi, I went closer to them and saw him. Dancing with Yoona clinging to him, my heart sank, I knew they were going together but it still hurt. He didn't even eat one of my shortcakes.
I decided to go outside, it was better than here. Stopping by the food stand I see one lonely shortcake, waiting for its owner to pick it up. I did, looking at it. There were a lot of little flaws if you observed carefully, but together they didn't matter at all since the outcome was still very pretty.
I sat down on a bench, it was cold, so I unfolded my sleeves and exhaled seeing the air go up in a white smoke in front of me. It was softly snowing, I was being dramatic right? He's going to ask me to dance, I just need to wait a little more.
