Mafia stared at me a bit before laughing. "If you had the case files, you should've known! This is the longest I've lasted! And no, you can't call me Mary."
I grinned. "I've only had access to the case files for about 15 minutes," I replied. "I thought I'd look into it a bit more when you referenced your late sister and brother."
"Again, this is the longest I've lasted. You have no idea how many cops I've had to kill because they got too close. You found out. Now, while I won't try to kill you right now unless you provoke me, you can't call me Mary in any circumstance." Mafia smiled. "Or I will kill you. And you better not make this public, or same consequence."
I quickly pulled out my gun at shot at a small fuse box behind Mafia, cutting the lights.
Mafia sighed. "And what good was that supposed to do?"
I shrugged. "I thought that was supposed to disable the traps that you have lying around this place."
"Why would we put that in the middle of the upstairs hallway? There's only one person who would stay up here if we were attacked." Mafia told me.
I thought for a moment. "Probably Vanessa Hunter. The top floor is a good vantage point for sniping someone several feet away." I decided.
"Yeah, no shit. She's the only one who...right, past tense. She's the only one who had a long range weapon, as you can see." Mafia said, pointing to the hammer and mace that were still on the floor. She dropped the axe to the floor.
I nodded. "I have the case file."
"I'm aware. There are several for us, however. One for each." Mafia said.
"Alright," I said. "$500 for the file."
Mafia crossed her arms. "Seriously?"
"I saved your ass from someone that hired me to kill you," I reminded Mafia.
"So?" Mafia asked.
I rolled my eyes. "I am being hunted down for attempted murder and treason by the Seattle Police Department and the man who threatened to kill you, Simon Reid, also killed my ex-girlfriend, Annika," I said, annoyed. "So, don't ask me why."
"I'd ask if this is some otherworldly shit but I don't give a fuck, so...and you'll get used to being hunted down. I have." Mafia retorted.
"Otherworldly shit?" I asked Mafia. "What are you talking about?"
Mafia shrugged. "Seems like a lot going on, even for you."
"What the hell are you talking about?!" I shouted at her.
Mafia flinched and Awakening pulled her closer.
"Just forget about it," Awakening spoke up.
Mafia smiled.
"Forget about it?" I asked incredulously. "Are you serious?"
"Yes, I am," Awakening replied. Mafia's smile faded.
"Oh, really?" I asked. "I can report you both to the cops right now."
"You know what? If it'd just been me, I'd have allowed it, but you do not threaten her." Mafia said, furious.
I took a deep breath. "I'm done," I muttered.
"And so am I." Mafia said, taking out her gun and pointing it at me.
Suddenly, there was a scream from the roof and the three of us were knocked to the floor.
I helped Mafia and Awakening up and turned to face Sara.
"Seriously?" I asked, annoyed.
"She pulled a gun on you," Sara retorted.
I walked over to where Mafia had dropped her gun, and pocketed it.
"We should go," I told Mafia and Awakening.
"You two can. We're staying here until she calms down," Awakening said.
I nodded and left with Sara, leaving Mafia and Awakening behind.
