Is the entire evening going to be filled with alcohol and childish behavior? According to the question I'm asked when I return to the basement, the answer is yes.
"Want to play Truth or Dare, Dev?"
I hand out the bottles before sitting in my bean bag chair.
"I haven't played that game in years."
"It's either a yes or no, Dev. Nobody cares when the last time you played it was."
I roll my eyes. I know she is joking, so I brush it off.
"Yes, but we should invite some more people to play to make it more interesting, don't you agree?"
"Like who?"
I give a devilish smile to my friends, pulling my phone out of my pocket. I scroll through my contacts before selecting a name. I press the phone to my ear as it rings. It doesn't take long for him to pick up.
"Change your mind about the dance, Devyn?"
"In your dreams, Jace!"
Khloe's eyes go wide. She knows exactly who I'm bringing over.
"Then why are you calling?"
"I was wondering if you, Lucas, Jeremiah, and Oli wanted to come over to my place."
Khloe lunges from her chair but stops when she is a foot away from me. She gives me a glare as she whispers to me.
"You will pay, Miller."
"What are we going to be doing at your house?"
"A classic game of Truth or Dare. You in?"
"I'm down. Let me ask the guys. I'll text you back who will be coming."
"Sounds good to me. See you in ten?"
"I'll be there."
We both hang up and Khloe retreats back to her seat.
"Why did you ask him to bring Oliver?!"
"Because I know you have a major crush on him and won't make any moves without a little push."
My matter-of-fact tone probably annoys her, but I don't care. Time for a little fun and games.
