It was a gorgeous day in the state of Florida. Thin blades of grass bent gently against the warm wind, fluffy, pillow-like clouds rolled lazily across the sky, and brilliantly colored birds chorused their small tunes out over the land.
A feeling of calmness and serenity fell over the Side's house as the mouth-watering, homey smell of freshly baked cookies wafted around the home.
Patton was humming softly, mixing ingredients as he made chewy and soft chocolate chip cookies. Logan was in his workspace, diligently typing and doing general office work on his computer. Roman and Virgil were in a heated debate on whether Disney was realistic to their standards or not.A ding was emitted from the oven, alerting Patton to the delicious goods he had waited impatiently for to finish. Patton sets the sweltering hot cookies on plates to bring out into the living room.
He noticed Roman and Virgil finished their small argument, the former watching Dr. Who with a curious intensity while the latter was scrolling through a Tumblr page on his handheld device."Alright kiddos," Patton calls with a gentle smile on his face, "Anyone want some cookies?" Virgil glances up from his screen with interest, while Roman pauses his movie eagerly, gasping dramatically.
"Who would not want an absolutely appetizing pastry from our dear padre," He beams excitedly, swiping two cookies off the plate, handing one to Virgil on his left, "It's like refusing Mary Poppins' spoonful of sugar, which, in fact, is incredibly delightful!"Virgil takes it hesitantly, eyes showing small concern for the zealous Disney lover. "Thanks," Virgil mumbles, his introverted side internally screeching at the eye contact and physical touch.
Patton grinned at the small exchange, a toothy, childish smile plastered on his face, and gave a thumbs-up, his aura bleeding of joy and happiness at being so close with his awesome friends. After devouring his savory treat, Patton heads through the corridor to Logan's workspace. Stopping at the door, he notices a sign written in Logan's neat script stating, "Logan's Room. Please knock before entering, it would be substantially appreciated."
Patton pushes down the urge to kick open the door with great force while following the request and rapping his knuckles against the hard-wood door.
"Who's there?" Logan asks.
"Etch."
"Ugh," Logan loudly sighs with a hint of annoyance, "Etch who?"
"Bless you!" Patton giggled, eyes filled with childish glee. Logan emitted another loud groan, striding over to his door to unlock and open it.
"Salutations Patton. What is it you need?" Logan questioned, head poking out a sliver of the doorframe. He pushes his glasses farther up his nose with a finger as he peers quizzically at Patton who was smiling.
"Actually, I baked cookies! Since you seemed to be working very hard, I baked them for you and the others!" Patton replied. Logan appeared to hold his air of nonchalance while nodding, however, his mind screamed enthusiasm.
"I see. You would like me to taste-test them, correct?" Patton nodded. Logan took one and bit into it, eyes gaining a shine as immense satisfaction floods his sweet taste buds, completely letting down his composure in front of Patton. Swallowing gratefully, he cleared his throat and straightened his tie."That was a really delectable choice of ingredients Patton," Logan declared, "I enjoyed the taste of it incredibly so." Patton chuckled, leaning forward and booping Logan's nose gently.
"Your face is adorable, I bet the rest of you is too!" Patton exclaimed affectionately, stiffening in embarrassment at what he just blurted out.
Logan's nonchalance dispersed into thin air. Unfortunately for him, Patton noticed this small blush, smirking slightly at the hilarity of the situation.
"Are you blushing?" Patton teased, holding down a laugh as Logan jerked his head away in an attempt to avoid the joking remark."What? You must be hallucinating." His voice wavers.
" Did I, Patton Sanders, get the ever-stoic, hardcore, totally awesome Logan to blush?" Logan nervously glanced at the AC, brain whirring while trying to conjure up a reasonable excuse for his red face.
"No," Logan's mouth twisting into a grimace, "It's the cold." Patton snickers at this improvised excuse, glad that he wasn't the one in the embarrassing situation.
"Mhm, it's the cold. It's definitely not because of what I said." Logan turned his head away, unconsciously shrinking into his doorway, his face on fire.
"N-No." He breathed, cursing his mouth and tongue for stuttering so badly. For once in his life, his confidence had glitched, embarrassingly so, as well. His traitorous mind flickered when Patton embraced him in a firm hug.
"Love ya too kiddo! Always have." Patton uttered, causing Logan to smile and hug back. They laid in each other's arms before Patton pulled away, grasping Logan's hand eagerly.
"C' mon! Let's go make some more cookies! I read this new recipe that I'm dying to try, and you're not missing out this time!" Patton exclaimed as he dragged Logan back into the kitchen.
