Cricket's chatter completed the nightly feeling amongst two people, who were displayed atop their house.
"If you listen patiently, you can hear the grass grow." Patton whispered, eyes closed in peacefulness. Logan made a face at him, who was relaxing with his head perched on the smooth tile of the roof.
"That is incorrect (because according to the encyclopedia of blpb lbp lbp) Patton. Grass does not make noise when it grows." Logan replied, looking back at the star-sprinkled sky. He admired the beautiful flickers of light that were light years from his reach.
Patton softly laughed at this smart comment, gazing at the sky as well before gasping as he turned his head.
"You can spot the Big Dipper if you move your head just right!" He remarked, eyes twinkling in awe.
Logan smiled warmly, nodding his head in approval. A moment passed before a shooting star zoom past their vision, causing Patton to gasp dramatically and grab Logan's arm, pointing to where the star was a few seconds ago.
"Logan, look! A shooting star! Make a wish, quickly! Or else you'll miss the chance!" Logan squealed internally at how cute and innocent Patton was and gave his answer without hesitation.
"Hm...I wish...my infatuation liked me back!" Logan wished, mentally scolding himself for being such a stupid idiot afterwards. Patton looked sideways to the said trait, oblivious to situation and attempted to conjure up who Logan, the brainy, logical one, could possibly have a crush on.
"Ooh...well, will you tell me who it is?" Patton questioned, poking Logan's arm playfully. Logan pondered for a bit, struggling to think of a plausible answer.
"You would know them really well. So well, in fact, you could describe them in your own words."
"You know, I wish my crush told me they liked me back also!" Patton replied, yawning deeply. The two decided to call it a night and headed inside to rest.
-the next morning-
Patton woke up to birdsong and a warm ray of sunshine outside his window. Sitting up from his bed, he checked his kitten alarm-clock which read 7:00 AM.
He quickly slid out of bed, registering that he overslept, and changed into his clothes. Rushing downstairs, he prepared the kitchen for the food war he was about to wage onto it. Fortunately, nobody else was awake, so Patton could cook in peace while mulling over last night.
I've had a huge crush on him for a while now, he thought, maybe it's time to drop the bomb? He sighed in contemplation and flipped a fluff strawberry-chocolate pancake, watching as it flipped and curved perfectly into the air before landing in the worn-down pan.
I promised myself, Thomas, and the others that I wouldn't hide anything from them, so I have to stick with that promise! He nodded in confirmation and slid the still-sizzling pancakes onto plates for the others.
Patton sat down on the smooth birch table and continued to ponder while waiting for the others to wake up.
Meanwhile, Logan was having the same problem, contemplating on whether he should or shouldn't reveal his feelings towards Patton. After deciding to suck it up and get it over with, he concluded that he would reveal it during breakfast. He prepared for the day and ambled downstairs.
"Good morning kiddo!" Patton smiled, Logan nodding in agreement.
"Indeed it is, Patton." Logan replied. Patton glanced at Logan and his smile faded a bit. Large, swarming butterflies flitted around in his stomach, his mouth dry in anticipation.
"Um...there's something I need to tell you, before I lose my courage." Patton started, waiting for a response. Logan raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"Really? I have to inform you of something as well." He remarked. Patton grinned nervously.
"We'll say it at the same time, okay?" Logan rolled his eyes at Patton's childish antics, but agreed.
"Three, two, one." Patton counted. They both locked eyes and nodded in determination.
"I like you!" They both admit.
Before either of them could utter a word, Roman startled the two by entering the room chortling.
"I called it, Virgil! You owe me twenty bucks, sucker!"
"What?! I didn't bet that much money, ROMAN!" Roman shrugged dismissively, grabbing a pancake and leaving. I'll leave this couple to sort it out! He thought, on his way out, smirking happily.
"Are you sure that you like me?" Patton questioned. Logan pushed his glasses up his nose, staring back at Patton.
"Affirmative. I was the one who believed that the feelings would not be mutual." Logan replied, a tad embarrassed about the whole situation playing out here. Deep in thinking, he was startled with the strong embrace he received from Patton.
"Yay! Logan likes me back! This calls for a Winnie the Pooh TV marathon, included with my most favorite person! Would you like to join in?" Logan nodded in confirmation, despite not quite liking the show much.
