Should I make a full book of this one-shot? Comment if you think I should. (Also, this one is longer than most of them because I needed to actually lead up to the plot, so yeah sksksksksk.)

*Harry's POV*

It was their eighth year at Hogwarts. After the war, they were promised a re-due of the whole year if they wanted one. Harry, of course, took it, and so did Ron, Hermione, and... Draco Malfoy, along with Ginny and a few other students. They were told that they were going to be sorted into different houses if they did come back, and they weren't obliged to it.

Harry entered Hogwarts and smiled as he looked around the school. Just then, he heard someone call his name. He turned around and saw Hermione running toward him. Ron was following behind her but didn't seem as excited about being back at Hogwarts. Harry couldn't really blame him, though. Hogwarts had been hell for them every year that they went there.

"It's really nice to see you again, Harry," Hermione said. Harry smiled.

"You too, Hermione," Harry replied. Ron was staring at the floor. "What's wrong, Ron?" Harry asked. Ron looked up at Harry and looked... angry? Harry was confused.

"What do you mean 'what's wrong?' My brother died, Harry! Ginny was broken up about that, and you made her even sadder by breaking up with her!" Ron replied. Harry raised an eyebrow.

"Would you rather have me lie and still say that I loved her? Because if so, your mind is somewhere else, Ron! And I would never hurt her on purpose, she is still a friend!" Harry explained. Ron went silent. Harry rolled his eyes and just decided to head to the feast, with or without them.

"Attention all students!" Professor McGonagall said as all of the students entered. All of them looked over at her and it went silent. "We are going to sort the first years first, and then we are going to re-sort the eighth years. Eighth years, please line up behind the first years." Harry did as was told and was one of the first ones to make it in the line. He was right behind Draco Malfoy. He didn't seem to be the same Draco that he was the other years, though. He seemed... sadder.

Professor McGonagall started calling out names and they all took turns placing the hat on their head, each one seeming more anxious than the previous.

It eventually reached Draco, and he sat down in the chair. Harry watched as the hat thought, and thought, and thought. Harry found this strange, because the first year, the hat was pretty quick on deciding that Draco was in Slytherin. What was taking so long this time?

After a while of thinking, the hat finally just decided on putting him back in Slytherin. Harry was next, and he was more anxious this time than the first. He sat down and put the hat on his head, and as he expected, the familiar voice started to talk.

"Aw, Harry Potter is back for another year at Hogwarts, I see." The hat said. Harry didn't respond to it, he just wanted to know what house he would be in. "With how much you've been through, I didn't expect you to come back. You had a bad time at Hogwarts."

"Please just get on with it," Harry said. The hat seemed surprised.

"You don't seem to be fighting against me this time. So, maybe if I put you in Slytherin, you wouldn't care...?" The hat said.

"I don't care, just tell me what house I'm in!" Harry yelled(?) at the hat.

"Slytherin!" The hat shouted. Everyone gasped as Harry took off the hat. He looked over at Ron and Hermione. Hermione didn't seem to mind, but Ron looked even madder.

Harry slowly walked toward the Slytherin table and sat down. Harry looked over at Draco and his friends who were all staring at him in awe. Harry looked down at the table and tried to ignore everyone. Then he heard footsteps behind him and a hand on his back. He turned around to see Draco smiling.
