Chapter 16: Oh! It's Normal~!

Monika exited the shower and got dressed in casual clothes, slipping down the stairs and watching for the other girls. Monika heard the sounds of voices from a room bellow her, but she didn't pay much attention, due to how rude it is to eavesdrop. Instead, Monika sat on the couch and pondered on how she could have handles the situation better, but that didn't help her case.

Am I really that odd? I have some sort of issue I presume, but-why? This doesn't seem right. It's..odd. I don't think the other girls really need to know, but just in case they asked I should have an excuse prepared.

Monika jolted her head up as the sound of up-coming footsteps clambered down the hallway. Monika sat up straight and acted like she was focused on a book, her eyes locked onto a singular word. She waited for the inevitable, or worse, to happen.

" Hey Monika, maybe you should get some rest or somethn' ?" Natsuki said in a questioning tone, crossing her arms and staring directly at her. Monika shuddered and stood up, keeping her gaze on the bedroom door so she can make a swift exit, but she was intervened by a small figure. Sayori.

" Wait-See that? She has a funny look in her eyes! Either she is scared or something is up! " Sayori said, waving to the other girls and holding Monika's arm tightly. Monika winced as the other girls stared and Yuri made a narrowed glare.

" I know that look from anywhere. " Yuri pushed the other girls gently aside and glared at Monika. Monika could feel Yuri's breathing intensify and then suddenly stop as if mid gasp.        

" Monika, don't tell me..." Yuri inhaled and put her hands on Monika's shoulders. " You attempted to murder him for another reason didn't you? " Monika winced and pushed herself back, shaking her head.

" No-! No! Definitely not! ABSOLUTELY NOT! I would never in a lifetime think of hurting anyone! " Monika waved her hands and winced as Yuri turned to the other girls and began whispering, the girls responding with whispers as well. " Can we please change the subject-?!" Monika begged and the girls all turned to her.

" Well, I guess we should. " Yuri sighed, dropping the conversation entirely.

" Yep! It was getting weird anyways-! " Sayori said in a slightly nervous tone.

" You bet I would change this subject! " Natsuki scowled at Yuri for a moment, then turned and smiled at Monika.

This seems to easy. Better keep myself in check so they stop looking at me like a psychopath.

Monika smiled at them and gave them a little tilt of her head as a sign that she was alright. The girls all made a sigh of relief and trudged over, hugging Monika.

" Agh-! " Monika threw her hands around them and smiled slightly. " I could get used to this. " She said, muffled by her tiredness. Monika felt her body sort of just get more and more loose as the girls let go. " I think I'm going to head off to bed, actually. " Monika sighed and rubbed her forehead. The girls nodded and lead Monika to the room. She collapsed on the bed and fell asleep quickly.
