The blinding light touched my eyelids making me wake up from my slumber. I turned to the side and looked at my digital alarm clock and then gasping. "Crap!" I yelled and bolted out of bed. I ran into the bathroom and brushed through my long brown hair. I put it in a messy braid and got dressed. I rushed into the kitchen and mom was already making breakfast. And by the smell of it, it was waffles. "Hey sweetheart." Mom said smiling. "Hey." I murmured back. I ran to the coat rack where my red and black beanies hung. "Which one... Which one..." I mumbled to myself. I quickly grabbed the black one and pulled it over my head just over my ears. I sat down, drinking the remaining juice. "Are they almost done? I have to go soon..." I said impatiently looking at the clock on the far side of the room. "Yes. In fact, here they are!" Mom replied putting some on my plate. "Thanks." I said and grabbed the butter and syrup. I took the butter and put it all over the soft, warm, waffle. Then I drizzled syrup all over it. I ate the waffle quickly and asked, "Is dad down in his workshop as usual?" "Yes. He said that you will probably have a great day and bye." Mom replied sadly. "Oh..." I sighed, brushing a stand of hair out of my face. A car horn came from outside and I stood straight up. I grabbed my bag and ran towards the door. "Bye!" I yelled before closing the door. While driving to school with my friend, Paige, the song, "Halo" came on. "This is my favorite song!" I whispered to Paige. "Cool. It's alright.. Not my fav." Paige replied glumly. I started to hum it. Before I knew it, it was stuck in my head. "Alright girls. We're here!" Paige's mom said. I opened the door and we climbed out. "Bye!" We said at the same time. Paige shut the door to the silver car and it drove off. We walked into the school and went to the cafeteria. We sat at a empty table and talked until the loud bell rang. "See you at lunch!" Paige yelled over the crowd. "Ok!!!" I tried to yell back. We soon got separated by the large crowd of high schoolers.
