"Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet." - Plato

"Lucas!" I yell down the hallway. "Lucas, come on, this isn't funny anymore." I say wrapping my sweater tightly around my body.
It was late at night and technically speaking we weren't supposed to be out of our rooms but Lucas said he wanted to show me something so I reluctantly left my room to follow him, but somehow in the long hallways I lost sight of him. I walk past a doorway and a light flickers on causing my heart to beat loudly in my chest. I sigh as I pass the door quietly and make my way to the end of the hallway where the stairs are. There I find Lucas, his back to the wall, waiting on me. Lucas extends his arm and reaches for my hand. Allowing him to hold my hand I follow him up the stairs. Lucas pushes open the metal door and pulls me through the door frame to stand beside him on the rooftop. We walk hand and hand to the railing and then Lucas turns and looks at me, a smile breaking out across his face. I smile back at him as he stares up at the sky, my gaze soon following his. The night sky twinkles as the stars dance around. I lean my head over, resting it on Lucas's chest, listening to his heart beat I feel content. In that moment it felt as if a thousand passionate words were being spoken as time seemed to freeze. I want to stay here in this moment forever, I thought, our hearts seemly whispering to one another as the night sings it's beautifully silent song. The stars continue to dance in the sky and my heart flutters in my chest as Lucas begins to speak.
"I wanted to show you this. You always tell me how much you admire the stars from your room window, I thought you would like to see them out here."I squeeze his hand in mine, "thank you, for everything," I say.
Lucas turns facing me, his eyes like that of a vast ocean. My breath catches in my throat as his gaze shifts to my lips. My heart pounds in my chest as if it might explode but it all fades away as his lips meet mine. The world seems to fade into the background as we stand on the rooftop under the blanket of stars.
Suddenly he pulls away and I stand there dazed as two voices fill in the silence, "get her back to her room now. it's past curfew and lights out."
I resist their hands, as they pull at me. I look to Lucas and his eyes beg me not to fight with the guards as he stands there, his face sullen.
