Chp 4

We all sighed, trudging along the road. Everyone around us was moving in a paniced state, some calling out for people, some weeping, and some acting harshly. We've probably been walking for a good half an hour, getting tangled up in my neighborhood, trying to find a way out.

"We have to go to the super market and stock up on food! Everyones going there!" An elderly woman called.

"They're just giving out a free cart to everyone.." Her husband responded as the jumped in their car.

I stopped dead in ym tracks turning to them. "Guys! Thats it! Cub Foods is only a couple minutes away! We could get food, and find a shelter to stay in. Maybe this can turn out better." I said a hopeful smile on my face

"How can this possibly get better?" Noel barked, her face scrunching up with anger.

My eyes narrowed at her and I stepped closer to her, growling "Maybe- just maybe we might make it out of this hell, and maybe it can get better because we're not going to die, like my mom-"

"STOP IT!" Emma yelled yanking me back from Noel. "We have to stick together!" She growled at me, then shot a look to the curly haired brunette. "We have to keep a positve attitude." She snarled.

"I agree." Jade said, confidently.

"Sorry." Noel said looking down. "Lets just go to cub." The brunette huffed and started walking.

I bit my lip following, and i heard other foot stepped slap against the pavement.

We reached yp food market, which was luckily not that far from my neighborhood, and stopped in our tracks seeing a crowd of people by the door. The crowd was yelling and some were sobbing. People ran out of the store with karts full, and some fights where happing.

"hey! A kart!" Jade yelled and bolted towards it.

"Jade!-" I called out but she was already shoving through a crowd of people.

Me and Emma both looked at each other and ran after her, noel following.

When we cam up she had a kart in her hand and was grinning.

"Lets go get food, quick!" She squealed bolting into the store full of mad dashers.

She paused spinning around "Get stuff that wont spoil and meet back at in the parking lot- get as much as you can!" She yelled running off.

Me and emma split up, and i ran for the check outs, and swiped up a paper bag and dashed for the can isle.

Already there was barely any, and i just shoved randoms cans of fruit and veggies into the bag and a couple cans of soup.

I noticed cookies and darted for them grabbing them but at the same time someone else grabbed it.

I looked up and smiled softly "Sorry I think I had this first" I said giving it a light tug but the old woman wouldn't let it up

"I know I had it first!" She shot back tugging harder. I lost my grip and she ran off.

"well then." I huffed, looking up and reading the signs. I instantly thought of how we might need some pain killers, and ran for the isle that held some shampoo and make-up and over the counter pills.

I grabbed some asiprin and dropped into the bag also grabbing some caugh syrup and ran outside.

I noticed jade and smiled running up to her and dumped my food into the kart.

"Sorry Its not a full kart, theres barely anything left." She sighed- but i smiled at her.

"At least we wont starve." I chuckled.

Emma and Noel ran out together, holding one of those hand-held baskets.

I smiled at them, my breath slowly catching up to me, and pulled them all into a group hug.

"We can do this." I murmured, squeezing all of them close. They all mumbled yeah, and we all pulled away.

"Lets hit the road and find a place to stay, shall we?" I said looking at all of my closest friends and smiled.

"We shall." Emma replied and we spun around waddling out of the cub foods parking lot, pushing the kart packed up with food infront of us.
