Part 12

Chapter 12

This morning turned out to be a lot more stressful than I planned and I hadn't even been to my English class yet. I saw Caleb in the corridors a couple of time which was not good. As soon as he saw me he would walk my way to approach and I would end up running in the opposite direction like a wuss... I even hid in the girls bathroom atone point until I was late for my next lesson so that I knew he would have to leave. It felt like he had spent the morning searching for me as he was everywhere! The bell rang to signal the end of break time and I snapped out of my thoughts and suddenly stiffened. I had English next. I felt my blood run cold.

I said goodbye to my friends as they had different classes and Danniand I made our way to our English classroom. "I can't wait to getto English and see Mr oh-so-cute Williams!" Danni gushed excitedly.I just nodded my head in response. "Do you think if I seem like I'm struggling in English he will tutor me too?"she asked. "Maybe."I replied half heartedly. At least one of us was happy about seeing Caleb.

I had literally spend the first half of the day avoiding him and the worst part was  that he knew it so this made seeing him a whole lot more awkward. We reached the class room and I stopped and took a deep breath to clam my nerves before entering. "What did you stop for?"Danni asked confused. "Oh... nothing." I said not really knowing what to say. As we walked into the classroom my gaze automatically landed straight on Caleb and he was already looking my way as if waiting for me to arrive. I quickly averted my eyes and walked to my usual seat at the back of the room with Danni.

As Mrs Leavers began the class, Caleb slowly made his way to the back of the classroom which I hoped was to his desk. He sat down on his chair for about a minute before her leaned over to in chair and lent right next to me. He was eye level which did not cause to much of a distraction to the lesson. "Please can you still meet me after school for our tutoring lesson." he asked me but it came out and more of an instruction. My gaze never shifted my the desk in front of me and I was too nervous to look him in the eyes. 

I took a deep breath and replied. "I can't actually make it tonight, sorry... I have to look after my sister."my voice came out in a hushed tone as I didn't want everyone to hear us. I turned my gaze quickly to Danni who was next to me on the other side and could just see her practically drooling. Great. No moral support was going to be found there so I turned my attention back to the desk in front of me. I tried to act like I was reading the pages in front of me but there was no way I could concentrate on anything else right now.

"No worries. We will reschedule it for another day. Wait for me after class so that we can go over possible dates." he replied calmly. He moved back over tois desk not giving me a chance to reply. It was probably so that I couldn't bail out on that too. The rest of the lesson seemed to drag but that was probably because I could feel Caleb's eyes on me. I didn't want to risk making eye contact with him if I looked so I tried my best to ignore it. I really didn't want to stay after class to speak to him as I was still upset about what he had said so a minute before the bell was about to ring I packed my things away as fast and as subtle as possible. When the bell rang I shot up out of my seat and practically ran for the door and into the hall way. I could hear Caleb and Danni shouting my name but I tried to block it out. I hid round the corner so that I was out of sight but could still wait for Danni.

I took a deep breath to calm my nerves. When I saw Danni round the corner I quickly grabbed her arm and dragged her next to me. "Hey!" she yelled in surprise, but when she saw it was me she instantly relaxed. "Why did you rush off like that? I shouted after you." she asked me slightly annoyed. "Sorry. I needed the bathroom so I shot off." I replied, quite impressed that I managed to make up a good lie on the spot. She seemed to accept it and she linked my arm with hers as she dragged me to the dining room for lunch. I had the rest of the day to avoid Caleb. That can't be too hard right.
