shawn's pov:
it was a cloudy sunday after a quick session at a studio in new york. instead of heading back to my hotel, i decided to head to a café that was a short walking distance away. i quickly ordered and it was brought to me almost immediately.
i was on my phone until i caught myself almost falling deep into social media. i instantly put my phone down and picked up my mug. as i took a sip of my americano, i looked out the window and observed the gloomy day before i turned my attention to the entrance door.
it was y/n.
she looked my way and gave me a quick smile before going in line to order. all of a sudden, i felt my heart start racing and my hands start shaking as i thought about a conversation i had with niall not that long ago.
around two weeks ago, i was at a party in la. i looked around the group of people i was hanging out with and didn't see y/n. y/n was new to the modeling industry, but she made friends very easily. since she made friends easily, her group of friends was filled with people apart from many different industries, some people including friends of mine which was how we met.
when we met, we definitely built a connection. it was something very small, but it was very much there. that's why i felt a little disappointed when i didn't see her at the party.
niall was one of the friends we shared, so when i noticed she wasn't there, i was going to ask him about it.
i looked to my left where niall was, "how is-"
"y/n isn't here," niall said after taking a sip of his drink, interrupting me.
"i see that," i responded while taking a sip from my drink as i motioned to the group of people around us.
"it's a shame," niall said while smirking, "she was really excited to come,"
he paused for a moment before taking another sip of his drink, "and see you,"
"oh," i said while noticing my adrenaline starting to kick in.
"you didn't hear it from me, but she asked about you," niall said, calmly.
i took a drink of my whiskey to hide my red cheeks, "interesting,"
so that's why it all felt like fate when we happened to be in the same room.
i shook my thoughts off and turned my attention back to y/n who was now standing by the counter, waiting to get her drink. she probably got it to go. while keeping an eye on her, i wiped a thin layer of sweat off my forehead before running a hand through my hair, tugging on it slightly.
not even a second after i put my hands back on the table, i felt a faint itch in my pants, tingling. i quickly adjusted myself through my skinny jeans while not taking my eyes off of y/n.
i saw her pick up her cup and pastry before walking away from the counter. she stood in place for a second, almost like if she was thinking. i was about to smile and wave goodbye to her, but she walked over to the table where i was sitting.
"hey, stranger," she said with a smile.
i couldn't help but smile back, "hey,"
she looked down at the empty chair in front of me, "is this seat taken?"
"it is now," i said while motioning to sit down.
she put her things on the table before sitting down, "perfect,"
we talked about what was new in our lives since we last saw each other. well, i mostly talked and she listened. i definitely talked her ear off, but she looked like she didn't mind. i couldn't help that i couldn't keep quiet around her. i did try to keep my mouth shut at times though. i would run a hand through my hair, tugging it slightly, or i would fix my necklace or twist my ring around my finger.
