School is Beginning
August 22nd, 1988
Monday.
It's 5:43. I am NOT stoked for today, at all. I woke up early as hell because I couldn't sleep well. I just want sleep.
I let out a fake sob as I pulled the warm covers off of me. Ugh.
All morning I dragged my feet into every corner of my room to get ready for a day at school I didn't even want to go to. I wore a very casual outfit that consisted of a baby blue, loose sweater tucked into a pair of oversized jeans my mother had passed down to me. I didn't do much to my hair except for spray and blow-dry it.
I had a light breakfast with my parents, along with a weird conversation about putting myself out there, and "not being so anti-social." I ignored most of it anyways.
"Okay, bye guys." I said with a hint of annoyance in my tone. I threw my bag over my shoulder and walked out the door. I sighed in relief and adjusted my bag before continuing to walk to my bus stop.
"Wait up!" I pretended not to hear, but the voice called again. "Hey, Scarlet!" I rolled my eyes and turned on my heels to face him.
"Yes?" I faced opposite him again.
"Hey- Oh, uh what do you mean by yes..?"
I inhaled deeply. "Never mind." I could tell he was scurrying between beside and behind me.
"Uhum, okay." He said with a low, silky voice. His voice reminded me of a calm sea with ripples suddenly striking through it. Stop. Stop it.
"So how's your morning so far?" I squinted and sighed.
"I mean fine I guess," I turned to him yet again. "Can you like, stop talking to me? I'm not looking for a friend or a fuck so just kinda- leave me alone... Please?"
He looked shocked so I used that as an opportunity to escape his questioning. I made my way to the decently far bus stop and popped my headphones on my head. I played the tape that had been in my player since last night. It wasn't anything new. It was the Pyromania album by Def Leppard released in '83. I turned the volume up to one notch below max.
There was a minimal amount of people at the bus stop which I liked. I was probably one of the first stops because I had to be at my stop super early.
When the bus arrived I got on, found an empty seat in the back and sprawled across it so people wouldn't come up to me. Clearly my plan failed miserably because most people migrated towards the back of the bus. Someone even asked to sit by me, I obviously declined.
First Period.
Art.
The whole period was honestly super boring. It will be more fun when our teacher actually gets into the real art stuff rather than a syllabus. We went over what to do and what not to do while in the classroom. It was dreadful. I sat in the back and tuned out the teacher while the other students looked at me funny, like i was some kind of nuisance.
