HIKORI IS NINE YEARS OLD AND HE IS THE MOST HATED PERSON IN CAMP HALF-BLOOD.

The other children don't greet him with happiness after a quest or offer to tend to his wounds like they do with other heroes; they glance at him bitterly instead, allow him to stumble through the camp bloodied and barely conscious, condemn his success and hope for his failure. Largely, they whisper of Hypnos; someone like Hikori should be unworthy of a god's love yet adoration sweetened his father's heart whenever he looked at his child.

What makes him so different, the half-bloods scrutinize. Why did Hypnos love his son, but the rest of the gods ignored them?

Because their resentment isn't unfounded, Hikori doesn't deny the half-bloods a target for their hostility.

He shoulders their hatred and turns it into strength. He has a dream, and with hard work, it'll turn into reality.

The beloved son of Hypnos dreams of peace.

Hikori envisions a world with no violence. He longs for a world where demigods are happy and safe with their parents—nurtured, protected from evil and cherished forever, as his parents loved him and his brother.

A world where no monsters dare to chase children, no fatal quests failed due to hubris in desperate attempts to impress neglectful gods. No more burial shrines for teenagers or wars commenced by the immortal to be fought by the perishable.

It won't be easy, but it is achievable.

He just has to become the strongest half-blood to ever live.

Hikori believes this; It is a mistake to try and resolve things by fighting, for whatever reason. But if you are more powerful than those combatting and orchestrating a war—possess the strength to step in between the fight and stop them—then everyone will listen to and obey your commands.

Once he is the strongest person, he'll decide for the weak.

But for now, Hikori tends to his injuries.
