Gretta had just finished up sending the invitation messages for the Saturday welcome party.
It had always been the tradition for the seniors to head the first party of the school year as a sort of welcoming to both old and new students. Being chosen as one of the in-charge, everything must go on smoothly for Gretta.
She sent a special invitation for Calum-- the guy he really really liked ever since he first stepped foot in Grigori High. She didn't care if he was younger than her, he was taller anyways so noone would notice their age gap.
Along with planning the party, she had also thought of the perfect plan for her crush to finally notice her.
Even though it might get difficult because of that new girl with the red hair that's always with him, she would still go on with her plan.
"I'll be with Magenta okay? Can't wait!"
She frowned upon reading Calum's text reply. By the mention of the name, she already knows who he was referring to.
She hated the new girl. She hated her face, she hated her hair, and more importantly, she hated the fact that Calum seemed to be giving all his attention at her.
It took her around a year to get him to even say 'hi' to her and suddenly this new girl shows up and he immediately follows her around in a snap.
'What does she have that I don't have?" She once asked herself during a Tuesday lunch when she saw him forcing to feed her a little slice of club sandwich.
From the first day she bumped into her, Gretta knew the two of them will never get along.
She arrived home around 9:45 pm Friday night. She came by the area where the party was supposed to be held, checking if things were in place, and if it's far from ranting old folks that might complain of the party noise tomorrow.
As Gretta walked through the mini staircase on their house's porch, she felt the abrupt breeze on her arm.
She was used to the town's cold air but there was something in this breeze that sent chills not just through her spine, but around the hairs on her nape, arms, and legs also.
There was also that sense of being watched by someone. When she turned around though, there was noone. Just another set of eerie breeze touching her bare arm.
She felt her breathing became heavy. Her heart felt heavy like a boulder just crushed on it.
She lowered her breathing down to take a listen to the area. She thought she heard something... Or maybe a someone. She was hoping it was a someone.
"Hello?" She called out.
Fear started consuming her.
Then, she heard a clanking noise somewhere. With adrenaline rush, she rushly skedaddled to the door.
She closed the door as fast as she can, shoving off the curtain a little bit to the side to take a peek outside from the window that was near the doorjamb.
Her eyes widened as a black silhouette stood in front of the porch. It seemed to be facing towards the direction of the window where she was peeking at.
Her eyes circled wide and all she could do was cover her mouth with her hand.
The silhouette moved forward, the image drew closer. She hurried to her door, rechecking whether she locked it or not.
After confirming the door was locked, she took another peek through the window.
The silhouette was no longer visible. However, she heard a knock. Three knocks exactly.
