Chapter 14: Secrets of the Past

Sirius Black is my father. I’m his daughter, I’ve been his daughter this whole time. I’m not a muggleborn witch. I’m half-blood. Cedric was right, have to have some magic in my family to be metamorphmagi. I’m relieved that the man who just beat me is not my father. But, now I have another obstacle, I have to know my real father.

My hand twitches on the floor in the blood I spit up, my mother runs into the room, wailing, she falls to her knees at my side, moving the black hair out of my face. I unclench my jaw, but I can’t speak.

“Sirius, don’t do anything. If you kill him, you will be sent to Azkaban for the one thing you wrongfully got sent for thirteen years ago.” My mother says, she strokes my cheek. “I've called the police, they'll come get him.” it takes everything in Sirius to not destroy the man in front of him.

Moments later the man I thought was my father is put in handcuffs and taken to a police car. The red and blue lights flash across my window as he's taken away.

I’ve managed to sit up now, my mum gave me ice and I put it on my shoulder. She's cleaned the blood off the floor and wiped my face. I still cant talk. Sirius kneels down and looks at me.

“Elara…” he says in a whisper. “You are so beautiful…” I realize he's meeting his daughter for the first time.

My mother begins to speak and tells me everything.

Jolene Wingrove held the positive test in her hand, her other hand covered her mouth. She fought back tears as her mistake came to haunt her. She’s alone in her bathroom as her husband of three months is off at the police academy. She shakes with fear, knowing she has to tell him. Not her husband, no, the man she slept with weeks before she got married.

Of course she wanted to wait until her wedding night, but, Sirius Black was a charmer, and he sure did charm his way into her life. They knew each other for years as she was the neighbor of Lily Evan’s as a girl. Lily frequented at the hospital that Jolene volunteered at as a nurse student. Unknowingly to everyone except Jolene, Lily would do subtle magic here and there to make patients feel happy or joyful.
Being amazing at potions, Lily would cook up different potions for healing and curing, which helped out a lot in the hospital. Most of the time, it was better than morphine.

Lily soon introduced Jolene to James Potter and Sirius Black. They all became quick friends. She especially got close to Sirius when he was at the Potters' residence on holidays. They had a special bond that no one could touch, except Derick.

When Derick found out the kind of lot she had been hanging out with, she had to shut herself away from Sirius, Lily and James. Sirius had found out one night about how she was to be married to Derick in a few weeks. He begged to see her and they secretly met up.

“Hes no good for you, Jolene.” Sirius says in her ear.

“I’m marrying him." She says, he cant do anything to stop her, but, he tries.

They knew for four years and they had been in love with each other but she couldn’t break away from Derick. She was eighteen, young, submissive. But, Sirius made her live on the wild side. Derick was the safe choice. She only had one shot at being with Sirius and it could only be for one night. So, both of them, unknowingly, conceived a child that night.

Jolene sends an owl for Sirius and moments later he shows up at her doorstep. He begins to say something witty about her changing her mind to be with him and he stops himself as he sees the tears stream down her face. He looks at the pregnancy test in her hand and immediately pulls her into a hug.
