Gained A Couple Battle Scars (Second Installment)

Chapter 9: Spilling Secrets

I cant shake the feeling away. I feel like everything is my fault, but, I don’t understand why George and I have this connection. I’ve always wondered about it, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever figure this out.

Does this mean I’m hopeless? That I cant date anyone? Of course I can’t date anyone. Cedric has every right to be jealous of George. But, I truly did like Cedric. I really did. I wish it would've worked out for us. 

I spent the next few days alone. No matter what I did, I couldn't get my blue hair to change blonde. And no way was I asking George for assistance. The only way I could change my hair,  is if I turned into a completely different person. And that's what I did to blend in. I didn't just change into slytherin students, I changed into Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students (no, I didn’t steal any robes, just used a simple color changing charm). I would hide out in the library, or courtyard, Hogsmeade, I just didn’t want to be found. And I slept in my dorm, I just used a concealment charm so I was invisible and used the skin burning spell flagrante delicto, so that if any of my things were touched,  it would burn their skin.

Of course, as I was basically hiding in plain sight, I did hear a lot of talk from my friends on where I was. I just wasn’t ready to face the world as the girl Cedric broke up with. I did find out we were called a power couple, thanks to the Daily Prophet. Everyone got to read about our falling out. A lot of people were actually bummed that we broke up. I didn’t know people invested their time into my relationship.

It took Hermione and George about twelve hours to become concerned about my whereabouts. It took that long because they assumed after they heard the news from other people about me and Cedric (which happened quite quickly) they thought I went straight to the dungeons. It was when I didn’t turned up for breakfast the next morning that had them worried.

I watched as Hermione, Ginny and Harry team up and search the castle and Fred and George searched in Hogsmeade. I didn’t show myself until I saw Fred and George confront Cedric in the Three Broomsticks. I don’t know what it is with the twins getting into fights at this pub.
I was sitting at a table in the back hiding behind a book and a butterbeer. I watch as Fred and George enter the pub. They look around and find Cedric sitting with Cho Chang, I had been avoiding looking at them this entire time. But, now that I see Fred and George walk over, I’m forced to watch.

“Hey Fred, hey George.” Cedric says.

“Don’t ‘hey' us. Where the hell is Em?” Fred asks.

Cedrics eyes widen. “What do you mean?” he asks, looking concerned.

“We mean that you broke her heart and now we cant find her. It's been four days, hasn’t shown up for classes or for meals.” George says.

“I don’t know where she is…” Cedric says. “I havent seen her.”

Fred looks at Cho and then at Cedric. “You move fast, huh?”

“Let’s be honest, she wasn’t fully invested in me anyway.”

Fred and George look at him curiously. Cedric gets up and walks over to the bar getting two butterbeers and setting them on the table. Cedric crosses his arms in front of Fred and George.

“She likes George. She always has. He makes her emotions go crazy, he can bring her back to normal with one touch. I cant do that. And the sad part is, he knows all of this, and doesn’t give her the time of day. You think I'm the one who broke her heart? George, you break her heart every damn day by not being with her.”

And then it happens. George loses control and his fist collides with Cedrics face, I hear Cho scream, and people gasp. Cedric staggers backwards and I stand up from my seat as Fred pulls George back. If Fred didn’t do that, I’m sure George wouldve taken another swing.
