Absentmindedly keeping a hand on the wheel, my mind drifted to the events of the previous evening. The morning was proving to be clear, a steady wind filling our sails as the ship sliced through the dark water. I was alone at the helm- the deck of the ship was quiet, a bare bones crew managing while the rest got some sleep.

I kept my eyes forward, watching as the sun slowly slid above the horizon, feeling that delightful zing of wild freedom that always came with being at sea. Mistress of my own destiny, a new day dawning.
The sky was turning pink and red, the last few stars fading as morning truly broke. I grinned, feeling invincible.

Most of my men had been up nearly all night, dealing with the new passengers and taking great delight in handling the Captain Jones issue. I'd been filled with a deadly satisfaction as I'd watched Jones take his final steps off the plank, dressed only in his undergarments, eyes wide with fear.
We left him adrift in the middle of the ocean, fairly out of the way of the typical trade routes, so his chances for survival were next to zero. James had been happily reminding him of this, enjoying how he'd paled with every comment.

"You'll be dead by morning, mate!"

I sighed, relishing that sense of relief now that we'd achieved the vengeance I'd been seeking the last few months. Though it hadn't gone exactly to plan, and we'd been saddled with a group of stow-aways, the future seemed bright. No more revenge missions. We'd drop this lot of passengers off when we made port in Tahiti, and then I'd go back to my honest pirating.

Lot's to do, plenty to steal. . . I smirked, thinking of the treasure map currently locked in my desk drawer. I'd stolen it from another, less fortunate pirate, and I was looking forward to it being our next adventure. Nothing my crew and I loved more than setting off into the unknown, lured by the promise of gold, jewels, and glory.

"Captain?"
The quiet question pulled me out of my thoughts- James had come to relieve me of my post. I nodded to him gratefully as he took up my place at the helm- I was looking forward to hot coffee, and spending a few hours alone in my cabin. There was plenty of charting to do, and the matter of the newest treasure hunt to figure out. The rest of the crew had been roused, and were starting to shout, attempting to gain more speed from the wind and sails.

That same wild thrill danced through me as I stood on the upper deck, watching as the men gleefully went about their duties- all feeling perfectly at home on the open water.

"Keep us steady on the course, James. I'm looking to get to Tahiti sooner, rather than later." I warned, a sly smile on my lips.
He grinned, before turning and relaying that message to the crew, albeit in coarser terms.

Leaving James to keep a stern eye on my loyal crew, I moved down the stairs towards my cabin. Movement caught my eye, a group of the new passengers seemed to be interested in the activities of my crew.
I recognized them as the two men I'd spoken to last night, Hosea and Dutch, accompanied by the handsome man I'd noticed, and a young boy. Well, well.

I paused, leaning against the door to my cabin, watching as the young boy excitedly pointed out the crow's nest, and the men climbing on the rigging. A slow smile tugged up my lips, enjoying the sweet innocence that always surrounded an interested child. Didn't often see that on my ship, as we rarely had passengers...well live, willing ones anyway.

My eyes couldn't help but wander over the handsome cowboy who had his hands clasped on the young boy's shoulders, keeping him out of harm's way.
I also couldn't help but find a sense of pleasure in the broadness of the man's shoulders, the blue of his eyes, and the obvious strength of his hands. I slid my tongue along my lower lip in a carnal slide, what I'd do to have that man in my bed. My brazen perusal was interrupted when I caught eyes with the charming Hosea Matthews, and he tipped his hat in greeting, a knowing smile on his lips.
Hosea's subtle movement seemed to garner the attention of Dutch, who also turned to greet me respectfully. "Captain Y/L/N,"
