I know the world feels against you now
The earth you once loved when you were a child
Seemed to care for you
And protected you
But now
It seems to have forgotten
All about you
There were once so many things to look forward to
So many people to see
So many hopes and dreams that kept you going even when they seemed impossible
You still wanted to hang on
Where did all of that go?
It seems as if
Everything you want feels out of reach
Everything you have feels useless
Everything you've been given doesn't feel like enough
Because maybe it's true?
What you want isn't tangible
What you desire is the feeling of hope
The feeling of purpose
The feeling that there's meaning to this gift of existence you've been given
When the world gives you a canvas
Of freshly grown emerald trees
And grass stained from the sun
Of small flowers that whisper in the wind
And waterfalls that crash and roar and thunder and block your sense with noise
The way music used to make you feel
Alive
Human
Not so sad anymore
If the natural world is alive and is simply there
Growing slowly but content in where it stays
Can't we find the same desire
To live like that too?
The world doesn't forget about you
It teaches you.
