"My point, your honour is that there are too many holes in her alibi. On the form, I found it odd at first but now it makes sense, your doctor didn't sign the dotted line to say he actually did it. Not only that but do you know what happened to me when I was a wee lass, Miss Mantle?" The woman shook her head and became visibly shaken by the words.

"Well, I was accident-prone as a child and my sister didn't help. One day she..." Before the story could continue Will butted in again.

"Overruled. I want to see what she is getting at here." Will sat again and began to see that Aletheia wasn't ruffled by the objections in the slightest. It wasn't working.

"My sister. She threw a knife she had found and it landed in my face. I had to have it all removed and stitched. They told me not to wash for 48 hours after the operation. Not only that but three months ago I had a mole removed from my neck. It wasn't as large as the one you had but it was removed and I was told once again not to wash for 48 hours after it. So, yes, you have had the mole taken from your back but I believe that it was not at the time you claimed to have gotten it done or by the same person. When the police had arrived you had wet hair but you are too smart to stand in the same outfit that you wore. Not only that but you removed all evidence with a shower did you not? I mean you didn't even hear the bullets but the gun was found without prints and no silencer. I have right here... The reports of the house next door to you, they heard the shots. Surely you, who was in the room just above them with no music playing as you reported would have heard it all." With that Aletheia watched as a babble of unknown was spluttered out from the woman.

"You also claim that you saw my client walking down the street that morning at half nine but this piece of paper, evidence four, shows his parking ticket given at half eight on the other side of Canada. So, unless my client broke the speed of light and created a space-time continuum he wasn't there. And if he did I have a feeling he would be using it to do more than kill the people who cheated him of his life savings. Perhaps he would have sold it on to gain them all back plus a bit more. Before anyone claims that the car does not equal the man there is video and eyewitnesses to the man kicking off when he returned and found a ticket on his car. If he did kill your parents then he would have had to of sped the whole way at 100 mph, not catching on the cameras and even then, he would have only just made it back. You can do the maths. My client is only guilty of a ticket." The judge let the hammer fall and the court was adjourned till the next day where final statements would be made.

When the case finished Miah and Will stood whispering. Talking and physically flirting but Aletheia walked on after saying a fair well to her client. She met Jaren and the two walked from the room.

"Impressive stuff." Aletheia laughed and let a hand fall at her side. The hand Jaren then grasped and they walked together.

"It helps when they are innocent and the other lawyers are arsehats. The person that had the case before me was shite anyway. I just read one of a million boxes and found all of the needed papers." The pair walked at a slow pace to the exit before both met their cars.

"I will see you later," Aletheia commented as they stood at her car. Jaren agreed and then kissed her gently. A smile formed on her lips and she looked at his.

"Your lips are soft." He smirked before kissing her again. His nose was shorter than Will's so she didn't have to compensate and that in itself felt weird. It was enjoyable though. To her that was.

"Thia," Will announced and the two pulled apart. Jaren was pressed up against her on the edge of the car. They stayed chest to chest as Will spoke. Jaren was clearly not a happy bunny.

"Nice to see you could move on." Aletheia let a smile fall to her lips as she looked at him and the hand he entwined his fingers with, Miah' hand.

"Shame you can't." Before anything else could be said by Will in return his phone had rung and the two got into a car and then drove off. Aletheia felt like he was another person to her now. Though she kept the ring as a reminder of past mistakes.

The pair had shared a kiss again before going their own ways. Not to see the other person for an age or that was how it felt.

"Hey, Lilly. What did you get up to today? All on your own." She shrugged and showed the work she had looked through. Exams had finished but holiday homework crept up for sixth form.

"This sucks. What did you do today?" Lilly asked and Aletheia shrugged. Not sure if anything was noteworthy.

"Worked a case. Started some more. I am a hopeful bean that I will be able to have the case from today over with tomorrow. The case has been open for so long now it has to end eventually." Lilly didn't say much to Aletheia as they sat at the table.

"Aletheia, I'm scared. What if I can't do it all and end up like Miriam? Selling myself for sex." Aletheia sighed and rested a hand on her sister's.

"Well, for one Miriam didn't sell anything. She let men sex her up for free. As long as they had documents proving no diseases and also the pair used protection. But, if all goes wrong I think you will find it just works by some miracle. I wanted to be a bloody doctor. I am slightly disappointed that I didn't. I mean, I could be saving lives not defending guilty and corrupt people. I wouldn't have to deal with the likes of Will and I could have been in England still. I only live in Canada for the job." Lilly agreed but felt like she would have to admit at one point how she felt to Aletheia.

"I want to go home. My bed. I love it here and I have met some of the best people in all existence but it isn't England and you aren't England. I am so sorry. I have checked and I can catch a flight in two hours." Aletheia let a smile form and she nodded. A tear wanted to fall but it wasn't allowed.

"All right. I suppose you packed. I will drive you there now." To support her sister was the hardest thing to do. Lilly was really the best sister anyone could ask for and in truth, Aletheia wanted her around forever but she knew that could never happen.

"Thanks." The pair brought all of the bags to the car and left. It was safe to say the second Lilly was away and Aletheia had to return to her car tears fell. The night had grown to be dark and her eyes stung.

Hey, Thia. I haven't seen you lately. Are you all right? Can we hang out later?

Yeah, I am fine. Sorry Just had to drop Lilly at the airport. She fancied England again and I cannot blame her. I am craving it but anyway. I am super busy tonight so can we do it another time? XXX

Bullshit. I will be around in half an hour with all the chocolate and ice cream in my house and we can watch people falling over on your TV. I know you aren't too busy. Just too sad. I can help you. XXX

That would be nice. XXX

Aletheia started the car again and the water from her tears began to skew her sight but it didn't stop her as she got back and opened her front door. Wanting to fall and never have to get up. Before the door had closed though it was pushed and Jaren walked into the flat. A hand with chocolate in and a tub of nice strawberry ice cream for an emotional and physically tired Aletheia.
