The sun was falling and yet it felt like the day had only just begun. Aletheia yawned and prepared to get dressed to leave for the night out. Dinner was going to be good and there was potential for chilli squid. Aletheia made the journey up the steps and heard a loud shout from Jaren. He must have been in some recording session but it was coming to an end. Deciding that it was best to keep a low profile she walked quietly in. Only just pushing the door as it sat ajar. The clothes she needed were in the bag open on the floor. Jaren had his back to her. His laptop had a keyboard attached to it so that the small screen could be a distance away and the mouse was also there.
"I am going to flip. Just throw my keyboard. YEET." As he said that it was unplugged and whilst it stayed firmly in his hands the board was thrown. A loud thud confused him as it had remained in his hands and yet something had fallen.
"I think I hit something." He announced into the earphones as he took them off and the far off laughs could be heard. Comments and insults thrown but he was too busy to hear. As he stood and looked around the room a heap on the floor was seen.
"I am so sorry," He blurted out and joined the mess on the floor. He was trying to hold back a laugh as the body was held together and slightly moving. Either laughing or even crying. Her hands clutched her face as she held back any sounds.
"Fuck you Smii7y," Was laughed out when the pain eased. Still, her face was covered but his fingers pulled her fingers back and at that moment Jaren stopped laughing at her. He stood them up but Aletheia got dizzy and sat down on the bed. Jaren left the room and the laughs hit her ears from the earphones.
"Here you go." Jaren ran back in and handed her some tissue. Aletheia sighed and wiped her eyes with it. The tears had run all over but when she looked at the tissue blood was seen. A small mirror was looked into and five keys could be seen to have clearly cut into her face. Jaren closed off the laptop and looked at her with a pale face.
"I have a question Jaren." He nodded and moved her hand back to her head and sat at her side. Not sure of what to do but Aletheia moved and sat on his lap.
"How do I explain to clients and my bosses why I have keyboard keys cut into my face?" The question hung and a small smile crept onto Aletheia's face as she saw the bright side of what had happened. "Relax. I will wait for it to dry, wash it and I can cover it up with makeup." Jaren didn't seem convinced by the idea of makeup for a cover-up but there was no other potential solution.
"I know it works. I did it for years." A few of the obvious questions rose but Jaren kept them to himself not wanting to say anything in case she got upset or suddenly dropped in pain or something. He wasn't thinking rationally.
Aletheia dressed and nagged Jaren until he did too. A sweet top and tight black jeans from some generic clothing store. Nothing was special and the jewellery was standard as well as the boots she had picked out. The cold would have been too much for what she had been wearing. It was heading into a cold winter.
Jaren wore his usual getup and then smiled at her weakly as she applied makeup onto her face. Only a few red lines were able to be seen but when she added contour they also disappeared practically. Only if the lines were looked for and if a person was up close could they see. Finally, Jaren asked what she meant when she admitted to doing it for years.
"Oh. I was so accident-prone. I was once using a needle. Not my first time and it was not coming through the fabric so I pulled very hard. It landed in my face at an angle and when I tried to pull it out I ended up just sewing my face to it. My mum had to do some shit and pull it all out. That is a really tough thing to explain to school and my few friends." Jaren felt a smile tug as he heard the innocent response to his dark question.
Aletheia stood from the floor where she had been doing her makeup and grabbed his hand as they walked from the room. Both of them grabbing their shoes as they left the shared room.
"We haven't even been here for 24 hours and already you have hit me. I mean, how is this trip going to end?" As Aletheia said this Jaren felt so guilty. He looked at her face and pulled the whole of his front bottom lip into the space between his teeth.
"Don't. I feel so guilty. I mean, I have... Shit." As he said this the front door was seen. The group all stood at the door ready to go. Kelly was last to arrive and Kelly raised both of her eyebrows to show that they could go to the restaurant. Tyler opened the door and they all piled out.
"Oh. Anthony and Craig are recording, do you mind? If you do we can tell them both to avoid your face." Aletheia shrugged and sighed. Not feeling all too bothered.
"No. I don't mind. As long as I am here with you it can't be too bad. Just nothing racist and me connected." Smii7y nodded and then kissed her lips shortly. Jiggly seemed to have the same point and went to ask her but she just told him that all was fine, Craig also heard her response. A smile and a thanks was given as they left. They climbed into the cars and headed off to the place of food.
Anthony was driving with Evan sat in the passenger seat. Jaren and Aletheia sat in the back, talking to themselves when a camera was pulled out and Evan held it for him. Not a warning from him just Anthony asking if Evan would do it.
"All right bitches. We are off to eat. I don't have a clue where but that is because Tyler is a secretive little bitch. Anyway, we have a pure party car. All of the fun is had here. Can you tell? Listen to that banging music. Actually, can someone connect and play me some music?" Smii7y connected and then he handed his phone to Aletheia. She chose the slowest song she could. 'What a wonderful world' came on and the three males all set about swearing until something faster was put on.
The music was suddenly stopped and Evan began recording as he shouted about some of the things they passed. Cows and sheep being the major things but even the flowers had a shout out.
"But the prettiest flower of them all is little Thia." The camera turned to her and she felt a red hit her but she then covered it all up as the seconds passed.
"Piss off, Evan," Jaren shouted as a joke and Aletheia gave a fake look of horror at Jaren as she looked at Evan.
"But I think owls are fit. Fitter than fucking milk. I mean your bag isn't even that big." Silent laughter followed as Anthony lost his cool.
"Oh, dude. She called you out. She said you have a small dick." The week was going to be a fun one and that was for certain.
