~5 years later~
To say that Ray held good parties would be an understatement.
This particular party was a masquerade ball celebrating 5 years since the end of the war, and there were many names on the guest list I did not recognise. Ray knew practically everyone, unlike me, but I was still surprised as to how busy it was going to be.
There would be hundreds of people, and many men asking me to dance, but I would still only looked for one face. I never forgot that face, just as I had promised. Those eyes burned into my mind every time I blinked. His blonde hair glistened in the sun everywhere I looked. Everywhere I was, so was he.
But I had never seen him. We lived in completely different countries and there was no way to see him. I would never be able to save up to go to America, not in a million years. And I doubted Mikey would be able to come to Britain-he seemed very humble when I last saw him. And everyone knows the rich weren't humble.
Unless your name was Ray Toro.
Which brings me back to the party,
It was very extravagant, the red and black theme portrayed in every room of his grand mansion. My dark red dress, payed for by Ray, glistened in the candlelight, seemingly floating around me as I attached my black mask to my hair, securing it in place with some diamond pins.
Ray has taken me in after the war, claiming I was the sister he never had, and made sure I had all the best things. Everyone we knew thought we were together, but we were practically siblings. We annoyed each other, we helped each other and we loved each other-in a brotherly/sisterly way.
I walked down the grand staircase and got into place to welcome the guests. Ray said he had to get something ready for some special guests, so left the greetings up to me.
The first guests arrived, and I welcomed them warmly, showing them to the main hall where a band was starting a slow song from before the war. The guests soon started piling in through the doors, and I became very busy greeting everyone. Some people slipped by me without me greeting them, but I let them go. They probably didn't know who I was.
As the last guests trickled in, I went to find Ray and tell him that he was needed for his compulsory speech. He was very good with words, and everyone loved hearing his views on current affairs.
I found him in one of the back rooms speaking to two men. One was around the same height as him and had jet black hair, and was wearing a pure black tuxedo and a black mask. The other had bright white hair, and was also wearing a pure black tuxedo and mask, but his was less intricately designed.
I walked over to Ray and whispered in his ear. "The guests have all arrived, it's time for your speech." before turning around, smiling at the men and leaving the room. I heard Ray talk to the men quickly before following me to the stage, where everyone was gathered.
Ray cleared his throat before starting his speech. It was the usual talk of politics, with a few jokes thrown in to lighten the mood. He spoke about his time in the war, and included many stories of me. Then his mood seemed to suddenly change, and a mischievous look crept onto his face.
"Now, I would like to invite two very special guests onto the stage tonight. These two were soldiers in the war, and became good friends with me and y/n during their time in the infirmary." I wondered who he meant, as we had made many friends. But none of them looked like the two men that walked on stage and stood next to me.
"These two have come a long way to get here, all the way from New Jersey in America! Please welcome, drumroll please... Gerard Way And Mikey Way!"
I gasped, facing the Way brothers, tears threatening to spill from my eyes. After all this time searching for them, they were here. Right in front of me, waving at the crowd, who knew of them from Ray's many speeches about them. The black haired brother turned to face me, and looked me straight in the eye.
"Hey y/n, long time no see" the familiar voice that had been haunting me for 6 years said with a laugh.
"Mikey? Oh my god Mikey! I can't believe it!" I exclaimed, hugging him tightly, never wanting to let go.
"Hey, I'm here too!" I heard Gerard joke, and ran to him and embraced him. He simply laughed and hugged me back, leaning down to whisper in my ear.
"Now you two lovebirds can stop pining over each other and get together"
I smiled up at him, and he smiled back before letting go of me and allowing Mikey to wrap an arm around my waist. I leant into his embrace as Ray finished his speech. I wasn't listening anymore, I was too busy concentrating on the person stood next to me.
It felt like a dream. But it was real life, not a fantasy.
And do was right now, dancing with Mikey in the middle of the dance floor, the world a blur around us, we were only concentrating on each other. And as we came closer and leant forwards, allowing our lips to touch for the first time in what felt like forever, I could feel the fireworks going off inside my stomach.
Mikey Way was here. And he was with me. That's all that mattered to me in that moment as we danced and kissed in the night.
A/n and that's a wrap!!! Another short story finished!
Decided to give you guys a happy ending this time.
